DVD Description

Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall has got a SPRING in his step. The ambassador for local, seasonal produce cooks and tastes the abundant gifts Spring has to offer, and celebrates the seasonal best, be it from the wild, the garden or off the shelf with a collection of recipes to enthuse and salivate over. In this series Hugh champions a community project in Bristol where some novice home-growers start up a small-holding with vegetables and livestock. A new national campaign is launched to catch the non-native American Signal crayfish which is doing so much damage to our inland waterways. Another meat firmly on the menu is chicken as we follow the success of Hugh’s “Chicken Out!” campaign.

Hugh does it again! 9 Dec 2008
By J. Hall
Hugh Fearnley whittingstall is great in many ways; his views on farming, his programme making skills, his down to earth and charming character are not to be forgotten. These, together are what makes his shows so viewable and original.
This isn't River Cottage as we'd expect, in fact RC HQ isn't hardly featured, instead he's taken the bold step of recruiting town folk and geared them towards self sufficiency towards food. The show follows these people as they face all the dilemmas, hardship, satisfaction and well-being that is to be obtained in growing food and keeping livestock. The other parts features the more traditional solo missions that Hugh partakes with his viewers (which is what I really appreciate when I watch his stuff)
This DVD makes for entertaining viewing, though has no special features and isn't what you'd expect to see from a River Cottage DVD, I feel he may have used the RC name as a marketing device because of the success from his other shows.

It's Spring Again... 23 Feb 2010
Now Hugh starts his seasonal escapde at River Cottage, plus the little cameos of helping elsewhere...so is it easy to see that Hugh has an interest in helping others achieve scale wise what he has that this is also shown here...plus the start of Landshare...one of the best bit of actions for Growing Your Own since the Allotments from the WW2 time to today...
With this DVD its comes more apparent when you see the next seasonal 'Autumn' production and then there's 'Summer and Winter' to follow still...
