Product Description

Amazon.co.uk Review

This electric popper uses hot air instead of oil to produce a healthy, grease-free snack. Measured with the included cup so there's no guesswork, the kernels are poured into the center of the popper, the transparent viewing lid attached, and the cup positioned on top to keep popping kernels contained. Only then is the popper plugged in, because the 1200-watt motor gets to work quickly, churning out up to four litres of popcorn in just two and a half minutes.

While the chute on the transparent lid directs the popcorn into a bowl (not included), the force is vigorous and a high-sided bowl is recommended. If desired, the measuring cup can hold up to 85g of butter that melts as popping takes place. With the lid on, the popper stands just over 30cm tall and 18cm wide. Rival covers the popper with a two-year warranty.--Ann Bieri, Amazon.com

I got this as a present and it's the best thing ever! Easy to use, quick to prepare - just need to buy the popcorn kernels in bulk, but a little goes a long way! I don't cook but it's so easy to do - a massive bowl of popcorn is so easy to prepare! I then get a teaspoon of butter and a teaspoon of sugar and microwave till the butter melts - drizzle all over the popcorn - so tasty & lasts for ages

This machine produces splendid popcorn in a quick and clean manner, with an easy to use measuring and butter melting device. Unfortunately the hot air fan is a little strong, resulting in a large quantity of unpopped corn kernels in the bowl of popped corn. Be careful when you try to take them out - they will burn your fingers!

It says it will make popcorn in an oil-free way, and it does. No burnt kernels, no oil to clean off afterwards. The only downside to it is that I found it spat out a lot of unpopped kernels that then popped in the container the popcorn was going into, causing popcorn to fly all over the kitchen! Fortunately, there is a solution - adding one and a half scoops of popcorn, rather than the recommended single scoop. Other than this, a great product.
Also, I have to disagree with one of the reviews here - I love popcorn that is both buttery and salty, and this can be achieved with the PP25. However, what you have to do is get the melted butter from the cap, add a bit more and some salt, then microwave the mixture for about 20 seconds and sprinkle over the popcorn. This works a treat.

I cannot recommend this machine enough.
Being part of a family which enjoys their popcorn, I bought this machine as our microwave popper kept producing burned popcorn and only popped half the kernels. Honestly, I was pessimistic about this machine before buying it, but how wrong was I?
It is so simple to use - you just put the tinniest measure of popcorn into the bowl at the top, and flick the switch on. At this point, it sounds as though you have just started the ignition of a Harrier Jumpjet as the fan under the bowl gets under way. Within a minute, the fan is at full blast, producing enough gentle heat to pop all the kernels in the bowl at the top. It is a really scientific way to pop your corn - no oil, no burning...and it produces the fluffiest popcorn you will have ever eaten (and warm to boot too).
This machine doesn't even get dangerously hot, so you could feasibly even let the children use it with supervision.
We don't use the butter tray at the top, so the machine doesn't need any maintenance apart from a gentle wipe with a kitchen towel. The only negative of this machine is it's efficiency - it is so good, your bowl may fill up faster than you can collect all the popcorn, and the collecting arm needs to be masked by your bowl properly - the first time I used it, there was popcorn flying 20 feet across our kitchen...but these negatives really make it all the more fun (especially for our onlooking baby).
If you love popcorn, this machine is a must for you, and at the price Amazon sells it for, you really can't go wrong.

I wondered if this would be one of those gadgets which just sits in the cupboard. But since I got mine I have been eating popcorn alot more frequently. It is very quick and there is little to clean up. And they canbe a healthy snack if eaten without sugar or butter. Just put a capful of kernels in the unit, turn it on and a few minutes later its done.
It's a good looking machine but I choose to just get it out when needed.
It's not perfect. Therefore 4 stars. It will shoot a few corns on the floor and there maybe some that don't pop. I cover the machine and bowl with a tea towel to catch flying corn. Not sure how safe that is but I don't leave unattended
Some may think it noisy but its not on for long so very bearable. These are very minor faults.Overall alot easier that using a pan and lots of oil.

I bought this Rival popcorn maker as a present for the family (husband and kids)the Christmas before last. Since then every movie watched has been accompanied by a large bowl of freshly made popcorn, courtesy of the Rival maker! I bought it originally as it was reccommended by a friend.
We have found it very, very simple to use...you just put in corn kernels and switch the plug on! Within a minute the popcorn starts popping and within another minute its done! Make sure you have a large brimmed bowl to catch it all though. You can put a small amount of butter in the top cup to melt and then pour over. It is easy to keep clean.
My daughter has since bought another one for her best friend and we bought another one this Christmas for our daughter to take away to Uni. Hope this is a helpful review. I really can't find fault and we think its a bargain at Amazon's price too. For a kitchen gadget, it has been well worth the money and does what it says on the box!

Since I bought this Popcorn machine, my kids have not wanted to eat any other snack, (Sorry Walkers). Healthy, fat free, natural snack for you and your kids to enjoy. Machine works very well and fast, just watch out that you have a big enough bowl to catch all the popcorn that this produces, you will be amazed by the volume that is splat out.
Highly recommend this unit to anyone.
