On his deathbed Carmine Vespucci's father tells him to "get Proclo" his son-in-law, with "the hit" on, Gaetano Proclo (Jack Weston) tells a cab driver to take him where Carmine can't find him. He arrives at the Ritz, a New York gay bathhouse.
As Cleveland Sanitation Company owner Gaetano Proclo reasons, this New York all-male bathhouse is the perfect place to hide from his murder-in-mind brother-in-law Carmine (Jerry Stiller). But Gaetano finds he is amorously pursued by "chubby chaser" Claude Perkins (Paul B. Price) and by Puerto Rican semi-diva torch singer Googie Gomez (Rita Moreno) who believes him to be a Broadway producer (a riotous performance that won her a Tony Award). His guides through the Ritz are gatekeeper Abe, Ritz habitué sardonic screaming queen Chris (F. Murray Abraham) and bellhop/go-go-boys Tiger and Duff. Squeaky-voiced private detective Michael Brick (Treat Williams) and his employer Carmine do locate Gateano at the Ritz, as does his wife Vivian (Kaye Ballard).
This dated, but all the more funny farce will have you rolling about the floor with laughter.
When are they going to bring it out on DVD????
