marla is a high flyingl, accident prone model who wants to insure herself for 3 million, Tom is hapless, ill dressed, broke insurance guy who to fulfil the policy has to watch her for 30 days to ensure nothing happens in that period.. Both characters are brilliantly written throw in a few friends from the modelling industry and it provides an interesting and funny read.. Recommend it for 99p,

amusing contemporary romantic romp 16 Dec. 2002
By Harriet Klausner - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Mass Market Paperback
In order to stay employed, her Manhattan-based agency sends klutzy supermodel Marla Meyers to Granite Insurance in order to safeguard her face. Agent Tom Riley tentatively accepts the three million-dollar policy even after Marla explains her black eye was caused by an encounter with a dress dummy. However, the Home Office in Minnesota demands Tom shadow Marla over the next thirty days before they provide final approval of the account because they categorize her as an accidental risk.
Tom figures this is one assignment he will enjoy, as Marla is beautiful. As he begins to hang around the model agency he begins to fall in love with his charge. Marla, who also secretly authors the popular Mike Mason mysteries that Tom enjoys, finds she also loves her protector even when he looks at the early AM starts like something the cat devoured before bringing home. However, will both of these individuals take the RISKY BUSINESS of forging a permanent relationship now that love is everywhere they go?
RISKY BUSINESS is an amusing contemporary romantic romp that skews stereotypes in the modeling industry leaving no prisoners. The lead couple is a delightful duo swimming in a pool of zany secondary characters that bring much of the humor to the tale. Though how the home office expected Tom to keep Marla safe is not clear, Suzanne Macpherson provides a droll comedy that will keep them laughing even as the audience will want more works as jocular as this one from this new author

Thoroughly enjoyed! 9 Dec. 2002

This wasn't quite a five star book, but very enjoyable. The characters were fun and reminded me a lot of Jennifer Crusie. It was a fun, quick read. I'm looking forward to more books from this author.
LIKED IT ALOT 4 Jun. 2012

My first Suzanne Macpherson was "Switched, Bothered, and Bewildered" and I loved that so I decided to try this book. It was not as good as the first but I enjoyed it none the less. The story line flowed well and the characters had great imagery. But towards the end it started moving too fast and then it was over. It was a good read especially for only .99 on my Kindle app for Android.
Liking this book is a no-risk deal 15 April 2012

Risky Business is a great romantic comedy in the style of a 1930's movie which means you can't take it seriously and you are just supposed to have fun with it. Tom, a hunk hidden behind a horrible haircut and awful Goodwill clothes, is stuck in a boring, dead-end job selling insurance. Marla, a gorgeous fashion model, has been told by her agency that, because of her clumsiness, she can't work unless she insures her face for three million dollars. Tom agrees to write the policy for Marla but his boss insists that Tom personally makes sure that nothing happens to her face for the next 30 days or he will be out of a job. Marla and Tom have a great deal of difficulty developing a working relationship and many of their adjustments are very funny, especially after Tom becomes convinced that someone is trying to ruin Marla's face for the insurance. There is one incident after another and no one knows if Tom's theories are right or they are all coincidences. I really loved the ending but I did not like the epilogue as it didn't add anything to the story.

This book is very well written with a smooth style that flows easily from beginning to end. The editing, however, could use some work. (Probably the worst mistake was using the word "retched" instead of "wretched" when referring to scratchy sheets!) it was not bad enough to interrupt the story but it did get annoying sometimes. The dialogue was wonderful and the personalities of all the characters, both major and minor, were well-developed and three-dimensional. The imagery was very vivid and realistic. Altogether, I think this is a terrific book and I enjoyed reading it very much. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes humorous twists along with their love stories.
