4.0 out of 5 stars Good, but not great! 14 May 2014

It's good, but not great. The graphics are beautiful and it's easy to play. Maybe too easy. I've been looking forward to this game for ages.... maybe I was too hyped up for it. It also has a few bugs, still a good game, but not as in depth as the Harvest Moon games. If you want a good simulation game I would recommend Harvest Moon a new beginning.

1.0 out of 5 stars Lacking depth and variety 22 May 2014
Got this game expecting it to be brilliant, based on the designers who have had input into this. However, i found myself bored very quickly as there are no clear tasks to undertake other than the usual "wander around, pick something up, sell it" pattern. I was bitterly disappointed with how repetitive things became (and very quickly), i've spent 14hrs playing in hope it opens up but still no luck! I'd personally avoid this title, sorry to seem negative but it's an honest opinion.

I known this games had mixed reviews for me I feel this game as been over looked to much. It clever but also quite hard as there no real walkthrough or guide at present. However I feel you get as much out of the game that you put in. The graphics are great and the music is very good as well.

The core game play reminds me a lot of Harvest Moon Grand Bazaar the layout system in the shop is similar.

I agree with the other review it may not be to everyones taste but as I say the more you put in the more you gain from the game.

3.0 out of 5 stars A Humdrum Story 25 Aug. 2014
Hometown Story is one of those games that wildly divides opinion. Some people who'll play it will be bored right from the first 5 minutes, others will continue to play on regardless, and may just find a few redeeming features.

Firstly, taking into account all the talent that worked on this game, the overall product doesn't do much to live up to the hype. The game's art is charming and cute, but the environments are boring and uninspired. The soundtrack quickly becomes irritating and you'll often find yourself sliding the volume down.

The gameplay is intriguing to begin with but it quickly becomes tedious and somewhat pointless. The characters, who are all different lack personality and depth - and all of these problems from the dude who created Harvest Moon?

Basically if you pick up this game expecting the worst, you might be pleasantly surprised. If you are expecting a shop sim to rival Harvest Moon, well you'll be sorely dissapointed.

And to those of you who find repetition unbearable, best not pick this game up, as it requires spending large portions of your time doing the same thing, over and over!

5.0 out of 5 stars Cute, fun and hard to put down at times 4 Aug. 2014

A really lovely game with cute graphics and a heartwarming, sometimes very sad story. It does seem rather hard to get in to, with no real explanation of how to go about things, but I found my way eventually and I love the game. It's not for everyone as it can get very repetitive, and frustrating at times - but I thoroughly enjoyed it and have recommended it to a few friends as well.

4.0 out of 5 stars Although Ive no real idea what Im ment to be ... 13 Oct. 2014

Although Ive no real idea what Im ment to be doing half the time Ive managed to build up the wee shop without too much difficulty.
It (the game) crashed on me a couple of times, but as you get the option to save at the end of each game day not much was lost.
Can be a little repetative but this is a strangely addictive little game.
