Manufacturer's Description

In search of a missing girl, our hero stumbles upon the frontier town of Trampoli. Here he finds the object of his search but his task doesn’t end there. In the mysterious town inhabited by spirits called Runeys and shadowed by a gigantic whale island, he must start life anew.

In this idyllic setting our hero can pursue various trades (farming, forging, crafting, cooking, etc.), explore the town and the floating island above, or seek out adventure in the dungeons. Over time the town will grow, as do the number of inhabitants. Shopkeepers, farmers, tavern masters and craftsmen; all are ready to be our hero’s friends, enemies and maybe more. However, trouble in the sky above soon interrupts our hero’s new life. What is this ominous power that threatens such a peaceful town? How will he protect his friends, his love and the village that has become his home?

Very Good Game! 8 May 2010
Fun:
For the fans of Harvest Moon series this is the best ever, with the new added features of dungeons, monsters to tame, crafting, forgin and cooking for battle and stamina recovery, the game play is HUGE! And it is not that easy because we do not get that much information from the booklet, so, have to go internet to find help for some situations. If you like the game that last weeks or months to finish, I highly recommend this one.

Fun:
Like all Harvest Moon series its always hard at the beginning. It wouldn't be a problem if Rune Factory would follow pattern known from Harvest Moon series. But it doesn't. They added "lame" combat to it and made growing crops daunting, depressing task.

First combat - it's simple button masher where you either : A - Attack, B - run ( or if you stay, die ). There isn't any way to block and there is only one special move to each weapon. So combat is very basic and poorly made. Didn't enjoy it. I would expect some sophisticated blocking, dodging skills but no... it's either run or attack... Which is boring after a while.

Growing Crops - Lots of new player neglect "runeys" a little glowing creatures, at the beginning of the game. Doing so they decrease quality of the crops and the speed of growing. After few months in some regions runeys are dead and your crops grow TWICE much longer and Lots of them whither ( die... ). So if you want a good farm grab a harvester and distribute runeys in each region of the town... WHICH IS A PAIN! Once you've done that money isn't a problem. Just plant most expensive crops to get loads of cash . Soon you will buy everything that is possible to buy.

Story is a little bit lame... But characters makes up for lack of good story line. There are many responses for each character unlike Harvest Moon series where characters had 2-3 lines that repeated all the time. So basically more chatter :) It's fun to impress the ladies in this game, but it can be daunting task if you want to get them all at 10 heart...

Graphically it's way better than any other harvest moon series! Very nice backgrounds, characters animation, it's just great! Compared to hravest moon : tree of tranqulity... boy that was blank... So yeah the world is big, so there is plenty to do and discover. I also liked making new tools and accessories in this game. Some materials are TOO hard to get... like little crystal. That was a pain in the neck.

You will get frustrated many times with this game. So it's advisable to get a FAQ or Walkrthough before you start playing. If I had done that I would avoid many mistakes...

Overall - it's better then Harvest Moon series in many ways! But it's unpolished and many cranky ideas that doesn't work... stupid runeys hate them....

3/5 - No more no less. Try buy it for cheaper :)

Addictive 25 Jun 2010

Fun:
I already own the first Rune Factory game for DS and really enjoyed it, so I was excited to hear that it would be released for Wii. I was even more pleased when I played the game.
Far better than it's DS counterpart (partly due to the higher graphic capabilities of the wii). A wonderful mix of the original Harvest Moon concept with an added challenge. The battle system is extremely simple and easy to use, the menus are well-laid out and there's a large selection of monsters to fight and tame.
There are hidden events, many occupations to level up in and alot of characters to meet, some of which are easier to get to know that others and several which must be unlocked.

Enjoyably simple dispite its many features, this game is a brilliant buy for all ages and highly addictive. It also contains many fully animated cutscenes and a dating system. I wish there was the option of playing as a female character - I guess that'll be in later games as with the DS series.
Hightly Recommended.
