'An explosive thriller that launches a new genius for taut, compulsive adventure writing . . . I urge you to pick up Rising Phoenix' (Tom Clancy )

'Absorbing . . . A fine thriller with memorable characters and enough twists to keep readers turning pages . . . Mills is definitely someone to watch' - Publishers Weekly

Product Description

"An explosive thriller that launches a new genius for taut, compulsive adventure writing", raved Tom Clancy of this gripping technothriller from red-hot first-time novelist Kyle Mills.

Special Agent Mark Beamon is a maverick. His open disdain for the FBI's rules -- and directors -- has exiled him to a no-profile post in the boondocks.

But when a shadowy right-wing group starts flooding America's emergency rooms with dead and dying victims, Beamon is summoned back to Washington. Teamed with an icily efficient female field agent, Beamon is given the thankless task of stopping the slaughter -- even though millions of Americans secretly approve of it!

As the body count rises, Beamon realizes there is something eerily familiar about his adversary, reminding him of the coldest killer he ever encountered -- not a criminal, but a law enforcement colleague. And for the first time, he wonders why he was chosen for this assignment. Was it his expertise -- or his expendability?

"In the world of political thrillers, I have the feeling that young Kyle Mills will soon be a very big player". -- Frederick Forsythe --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

OUTSTANDING 3 April 1998

Format:Hardcover
I have just finished reading RISING PHOENIX. I want to recommend it to anyone who likes Clancy or Grisham. It is a fascinating plot compelling written. You meet people that you get to know and understand. It is fast-paced and keeps the reader's interest with ease. For a first book, the author has done a spectacularly good job. It would be a good job by any accomplished author, but as a first work, it is great. I am looking forward to more from Mr. Mills. (I haven't read Storming Heaven yet, but I'm looking for it.) Highly recommended.

okay thriller 26 Jun 2003
By N. Brett TOP 500 REVIEWER VINE™ VOICE
Format:Paperback
Laid back FBI agent is brought back from backwater assignment to hunt down gang who are trying to solve the drug problem by putting poison into drug shipments. As thousands die, the FBI are caught between trying to catch the bad guys while a good number of people are not sure if they want them caught.

There is enough in this to keep you entertained and to suggest that the author is worth watching, but this is a bit workmanlike. It lacks a little pace and tension and it leads you down a number of potentially interesting directions only to let them fizzle out. An interesting idea and with a little more work this could have been very good, but ended up just okay.

This perhaps may be one of the best books that I have ever read. There are very few books that have the ability to intrigue and captivate me as much as this book has. From the moment that I opened this book, it was a mission to force myself to put it down. After reading this book, I was eagerly awaiting the arrival of any new books from Kyle Mills and was excited to hear about Storming Heaven which I just recently finished reading. (Another Exciting Ride) and I am excited to read his new book which I believe is supposed to be in stores in the next few months. Currently, however , I am in the search for another great murder mystery starring a character like Mark Beamon. I am hoping that the book "Hannibal" will be somewhat as exciting as Rising Phoenix was.

I couldn't put it down, one of the best books I've ever read
I enjoyed the book because it grabed my attention fairly quickly. The characters are extremely well developed, especially villian John Hobart, and is an exciting thriller.
