Having agonised for a while over the prices of premium LED torches (LED Lenser, Fenix, Eagletac etc), I decided I probably couldn't justify £30-50 on a torch, so went for this Ring Cyba-Lite Rebel instead, as it seemed good value given its features and respectable light output rating. Well I'm not disappointed, especially for the price I paid. It's the brightest torch I've ever owned, with a decent range, and a reasonably effective flood-to-spot focus (by twisting the head). It provides bright white light, and runs on 2 ordinary AA batteries (comes with Duracells, but I'll probably use some decent NiMH rechargeables when those are exhausted).
The switch can be pressed slightly and held for temporary operation, or clicked in if you want it to stay switched on. The only notable omission compared to the fancier brands is the multi-power option (e.g. where you can have it on half-power mode to conserve battery life). And maybe the ability to 'tail-stand' (stand on end in a sort of candle mode), although the likes of LED Lensers don't appear to offer that feature either.
Build quality seems good, just a slight rattle from the batteries in the body (which may be a good sign, as I've read about some torches struggling to accomodate some brands of rechargeable which are marginally thicker than the average AA). The switch and focus both have a good feel to them. Comes with a wrist lanyard too. All in all, recommended if you need a powerful, no-nonsense handheld torch at a reasonable price.
