Well it's a cable, it has jammed in it's holder, so I need to strip and rebuild it, but it is a handy thing to have. The holder just needs a bit of work to turn it into a decent product.

Like others before me, I found the reel-system to be difficult to operate, so removed it. The cable itself is of substantial grade, and can take the current (5A) I needed without becoming warm.
If you're not looking for a reel-based system, but do want a well made, well rated, cable, then this is for you.

waste of money
found this item would not unwind,spoke to customer service they said just turn ratchet to unwind, device wouldn't unreel, had to force ratchet with pliers to open. Read more

Cable extension & tidy
I am well known for being able to tangle up any thing. This keeps it tidy and easy to carry in car. I would query the need for the on/off switch.
