Having used a double barrel pump for many years I needed a smaller pump mainly for cycles. This pump works very well and is sturdy in operation because of the wide footplate. The footplate clamps down easily for storage. The long hose reaches to the top of wheels and the pressure gauge is accurate checked against a reliable gauge. Using it on the car is equally good but obviously takes longer than the twin barrel to reach a given pressure. A small bag containing adaptors merely closes around the hose for security and easy access. A good buy in my opinion and great value on Amazon. As a matter of interest Auto Express recently rated this pump as the best of the single barrel models.

I needed a good footpump for regular use on my speed hillclimb car. This seems to be it.
It replaces a Michelin pump which I used for several years but on which all the plastic bits broke or fell off and finally the pump frame broke.
The Ring pump seems better made (I speak as a mechanical engineer) and is stable in use. The gauge is pretty accurate too - I compared it with a reference.
All in all it seems a very good pump, but only time and use will prove if this is true.

This pump was bought as a replacement for a cheap & cheerful one which had broken after a few years use.
Although this pump looks similar to other, more "renowned" models, it was a huge disappointment.
It was very stiff to use and delivered very little air with each stroke. But, more alarmingly, the guage was wildly innaccurate leading to serious over-inflation of my tyres. The reading on this particular item was 10psi under!!
I've now bought another cheap & cheerful pump from the local supermarket . . . it works better and the guage is accurate.

I was impressed with most of the reviews for this footpump and ordered to replace my bulky double barrelled footpump.
The pump seems nicely made and is compact...but it is clearly not fit for purpose.
I found the gauge reading was considerably different from my regular pump and I took a quick trip to my local Halfords to buy a good digital pressure gauge that actually cost much more than the pump.
For me...this pump reads 10psi under accurately measured pressure...thus so there is a real danger of over inflation and associated risk ...especially in wet weather.
I will keep this pump for the bikes and the wheelbarrow/sack truck...but in my view every pump needs to be certified as accurate and checked. This clearly is far from the case and I would advise anyone buying this to check the reading against a known pressure. . Maybe I was unlucky but I am extremely disappointed with this purchase...not fit for purpose.

Extremely poor quality.

Used first time;

1 frame buckled
2 cover of gauge came off
3 pedal rubber mat came off
4 stopped pumping air

Not fit for purpose.

Having just returned one of these pumps, for the SECOND time, to an online retailer who has done his level best to supply me with a satisfactory item, it has proved impossible from among the TWO batches supplied ,over the period of a month, to that retailer by the manufacturer, to find a single example with a gauge sufficiently accurate to be consistent with tyre safety. The first pump under-read by 10 psi, the second by 5 psi, when a pump of this kind should surely be accurate within a tolerance of plus/minus 2 psi, or 3 at the most. I have a background of long experience in the motor trade and tested the gauges on these pumps against two types of pencil gauge, a footpump gauge known to be accurate, and the gauge on an electric digital pump, none of which varied in readings by more than 1 psi.

From what the retailer( who took the trouble, the second time round, to go through "numerous" pumps to find the least inaccurate) said, it may be that the gauges on these Ring pumps are more accurate at pressures above 40 psi, but as none of the recommended pressures for any of the tyres on my 3 cars is more than 33 psi, that is no use to me.

Maybe we've just been unlucky with two duff batches. My purpose in writing this review is not to slate this product, which may well be more than satisfactory in other respects, but to warn anyone who has purchased one to check the accuracy of the pressure gauge. Air facilities at filling stations and supermarkets are useless for this purpose as their gauges are notoriously inaccurate. A pencil gauge is the best bet. Remember that there are hazards in over-inflation of car tyres as well as in under-inflation. Getting the tyre pressures correct and consistent is the single most important element in any driver's routine maintenance.

Simple and straightforward just did the job although it took a while to blow up a big 20" car tyre. Maybe should have invested in a double barrel option. Sure it will be great for my wheelbarrow which has a slow puncture though.

It failed to pump initially. I put a few drops of oil into the cylinder and it now works fine.
