Bought the book on a whim without seeing any images due to Parr's involvement - in hindsight I should have googled a few pics first and would have saved myself some money.
The images are all black & white (nothing wrong with that by the way, just an observation!), very grainy, and seeem to be taken on a cheap camera as there are lots of shots out of focus, almost Holga-esque alot of the time.
The subject of the book leaves me feeling more than a little uncomfortable. Parr describes the subjects as almost as though they are having a party and he'd like to join in. All I see is rather sad looking people swathed in grime drinking to get away from their appalling living conditions. In many ways the images remind me of Jakob Riis's tenament works.
My advice? google some images before you buy!
