His first solo album "SMASH YOUR HEAD AGAINST THE WALL" was released in 191, shortly after WHO S' NEXT. His second solo album "WISTLE RYMES" (with Peter Frampton on guitar), released in 1972, is his best, and one of The Who related best albums ever.
RIGOR MORTIS, was recorded and released in 1973, months before QUADROPHENIA, and is a collection of Rock & Roll classics and several Entwistle penned songs.
1. Gimme That Rock 'N' Roll A light Rock & Roll song, that sets the tone for the rest of the album. You can dance to it....
2. Mr.Bassman A cover, not sang by Entwistle.
3. Do The Dangle : A simple rock & roll song, you can move your legs to it "!!
4. Hound Dog Another cover of this classic, receives the Entwistle treatment.
5. Made In Japan : Simply the album s' best original song, and a song that could have been a big hit for him. Why did not the Who record it ?
6. My Wife His great Who s' Next song, swings here. He explained that this is the version that he wanted the band to record.
7. Roller Skate Kate : It was released as a single. It is a classic 50 s love song.
8. Pet Leg Peggy. Great song, catchy ..could have been a hit single.
9. Lucille : A classic receives JEB treatment.
10.Big Black Cadillac. A crszy song but interesting because it features a rare John Entwistle bass solo.
He seemed that he was running out of songs and original ideas, after this album he recorded a similar one: MAD DOG, sadly not as good as RIGOR MORTIS.
