Product Description

Product Description

At a time when business demands urge companies to innovate and CIOs face increasing cost pressures, offshore delivery offers the opportunity to industrialize the implementation processes for system harmonization, consolidation, and enhancement, thereby realizing substantial cost savings and quality improvements. Rightshore® - a registered trademark of Capgemini - is about organizing the distributed delivery process that embraces on-site, nearshore and offshore services. This book describes successful global delivery models utilizing industrialized methods to deliver SAP® projects from India. While the first part is devoted to management concepts, service offerings and the peculiarities of working together with India, the second part features eight case studies from different industries and from around the world describing how India delivery centers have been successfully deployed in SAP® development projects.

4.0 out of 5 stars The 21st century way to deliver IT benefits, 19 Mar 2009
By Machinetta (Budapest) - See all my reviews
Extremely interesting introduction to and review of Capgemini's Rightshore(TM) model, including how to initiate and conduct such a project, the major pitfalls to avoid, roles, organisation, phases & processes, plus additional activities needing to be undertaken - enhanced by plenty of diagrams and polished off with a bunch of revealing case studies.

My favourite section has to be the English English / Global English / Indian English phrases (demonstrating how communication from a member of the onsite team may be misinterpreted by a member of the offshore team), as well as revealing analyses of different cultural aspects and traits - some of which I did not, however, agree with!

I would say, though, that the book suffers from (1) the fact that it was constructed as a series of articles / papers from multiple authors, conveying a certain lack of conherency; and (2) the fact that it's authors are not native English speakers (or rather, writers) meaning that there are several spelling/grammar mistakes and the language can come across as a bit stilted. However, if you're going to be working in the world of international IT project delivery, you'll need to get used to that!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent book, 1 April 2008

This book rocks!

Through my years long work with offshoring of SW development to India, I haven't come across a more useful book about the topic. The mixture of background information, and usecases makes the book useful both when starting a new offshore project, or as a reference book for looking up clues for problems in a running project.

The book has become my best tool as a Offshore project manager!
