Book Description

2 Sep 1996
For Sarah Miles, childhood wasn't easy.Dyslexic with a severe stammer, rebellion was her means of expression, animals and trees her friends. After she was sacked from Roedean and Crofton Grange, her mother lost all patience and packed her off toRADA.But RADA shared her mother's view-Sarah was impossible. On the loose in London,Sarah revealed a special talent for getting into trouble and an equal talent for acting. She landed herself a prestigious agent, fell in love with his son, lived with a prostitute and met and fell in love with Laurence Olivier. The first volume of Sarah Miles's three volume autobiography reveals a fresh and original voice. She tells her story with self-deprecating humour and beguiling honesty.No-one is spared, least of all herself.

5.0 out of 5 stars A remarkably brave and spellbinding storyteller 3 April 2001
The first volume of Sarah Miles's three memoirs. This volume descibes the story of a young girl, descended from royalty who suffered from a severe stammer, dyslexia and generally thought of as an impossible child, who used rebellion as her only means of expression. Expelled from two schools she was then sent to RADA to induldge in her passion for performing. Sarah Miles grew up to be an incredible actress, one of the biggest film actresses of her time, shared a very romantic love affair with Laurence Olivier, married double oscar winning screenwriter Robert Bolt, and was even nominated for an oscar herself. These memoirs are heartwrenchingly honest, desribing in detail her amazingly coulourful life. These books will take you on an emotional rollercoater, you will find yourself laughing and crying in the space of a few pages. A must for anyone.
