I loved the first two installments in The Perfect World Series and couldn't wait for the third to become available. Luckily for me the wait was less than a week after I finished the second installment. I purchased it the same day I received the notice it was available. I would love to give this a five star rating but I just can't. I love books that make me continue to think about them even after I have finished them, and this one does. This installment made me laugh and cry. I love all of the original characters and the new characters Leora and Leupold.
The first reason I cannot give this five stars is because I felt that Kate's character was overdone. I have no problem with a strong and feisty woman, a woman who knew what she wanted and went for it. But for me the Irish stereo type was pushed way to far and turned me off.
The second reason for my low rating is because I don't care for the Parker, Weston and Maranda situation. I love Parker and Weston. I look forward to the final installment to hopefully find out what Maranda's deep dark secret is but I am not rooting for her and Parker to get together. Yes, she has been hurt but I can't imagine how they are going to turn her into a likable character and redeem her from trying to trap one man into marriage or being an adulteress. The whole "she has needs" too thing is fine but I draw the line with it being your brother-in-law! She is not an "innocent" woman like Cam, Daisy, Leora, or even Kate. Parker deserves a woman who will love him, be faithful and fit in with the other Grayston women and the love of horses theme that the series is based upon. Unless her past is as black as Leora's she doesn't in my opinion deserve to join such a wonderful family. They did a great job of making her a very unlikable character for me and I guess you can tell I really don't like her at all! I loved these books and characters because of their wholesome qualities and to allow Maranda to be successful in her conniving just won't sit well with me.
Ok I was going to give it only three stars but I will increase it to four because of how much they make me dislike Maranda! I don't right many reviews but I prefer reviews that tell me more than just a synopsis of what the book is about.
I look forward to seeing what other fans think of this latest installment!
