The lessons of Aleister Crowley, 16 Mar 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: The Riddles of Aleister Crowley (Paperback)
This book is quite good in that it is a follow-up to his first book 'the Secrets of Aleister Crowley.' You will enjoy this book if you have the first one.
The book deals with the lessons Aleister taught Amado during Amado's childhood, intergrating both their views about many modern topics of relevance, such as homosexuality and the feminist movement. On that point, this is not a book to read if you dislike frank opinions.
This book is successful in detailing these things and portraying Aleister as an eccentric, often enigmatic and wise figure.
However, this book is quite disappointing in that it doesn't say more about Aleister Crowley's activities as a magician or about magick, which is what the reader is expecting when they pick up the book. Perhaps, though the reference 'riddles' is an accurate one, because that is exactly what this book seems like.
