The second thrilling book in the Pellinor trilogy, set in a legendary world steeped in a rich and complex culture. Fantabulous! 2 Jun 2005
Format:Paperback
The Riddle is absolutely fantabulous. I won't give much away, but i'll tell you this, i couldn't put it down (even though i new i was supposed to be doing A'level revision - opps :-)).
After discovering the Gift at my school library i was hooked on Alison Croggans world and characters. In the riddle Maerad and Cadvan set out looking for the Treesong - this search takes them north. Its a hard journey - scraps with both the dark and the light - the latter has a profound effect on Maerad and Cadvans relationship. But there are some pretty hilarious scenes - namely to do with a lion and rabbit (read and find out) lol.
Certainly a must read!

I know i have exams and i should be revising but this book is so hard to put down. I kept thinking i'll finish after this chater but then something else happens and im left wanting more its a great book that is more exciting than 'The Gift' and your left poking your eyes back in to read more. If i wasn't told off for 'opening and closing my mouth like a fish' i think i would have finihed it a lot sooner. A great book and a must read to any fantsy/magic fan.

Marvellous 3 Nov 2005
Format:Paperback
This is the second book in the trilogy and is just as amazing as the first the characters become more rounded and the pace makes you feel the pressure that Maerad must be under as the named. She goes under major life changing events (some bad, some good)and comes out better for it - the understandably sulky teenager from the first book is gradually growing into a young women you can imagine being the named - a person capable of amazing things.

I have such admiration for Alison Croggan's work it's beautiful and descriptive, you really do feel like you on the journey with Maerad. The only criticism I have of her is the amount of time between books. I have to find out how things end. For pity's sake woman put us out of our misery!
