This has been a wonderful meeting with a book that was a total surprise. As much a children's as an adult book with an attractive layout, clever use of illustratoins integrated with text and clever type setting. A great idea as a gift to all those who have forgotten what fun the English language is. I use the riddles frequently in my capacity as an english teacher in Norway.

I ordered this book because i was able to use the "look inside" facility on Amazon. The riddles are though provoking. The lovely illustrations allow you to think about the answer before guessing.

Riddle Me This!: Riddles and Stories to Sharpen Your Wits
This book was quite good fun, but the lay-out of it is a bit confusing, ana I would say that the riddles aren't very conventional or logical. Although the 10yr old I bought it for seemed quite amused by it, it wasn't exactly what I was expecting. I wouldn't purchase it again.

Excellent selection and presentation of riddles 9 Nov 2005
By Connecticut Mom - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Hardcover
If you are looking for the ideal book of riddles for a young child, this is it. My almost-four-year-old daughter adores it, even though some of it is over her head. The illustrations are charming, and each cleverly contains a clue to the answer (nice for adults reading to children; the hint makes the answer all but obvious to you, so you can give more hints to the child). The stories interspersed among the riddles are fun, too. What makes this book so great is its selection of classic riddles. You've heard most of these, though probably not since you were small. The riddles have the cadences of nursery rhymes, and the same air of enchanting timelessness. Since discovering this book, we have looked at other riddle books and they usually fall far short, because the riddles just aren't very clever or funny. Often these books have many more pages than this one but far fewer enjoyable riddles. There's a reason certain things achieve the status of classic!
