The sort of tension that Sandra Brown does well. IThis is Ms. Brown on top of her game.

Synopsis: Her main character in this book is a cop called Duncan Hatcher, and he's called out to Judge Laird's house to investigate a shooting. It seems that the judge's wife (Elise), shot the man in self defense. Then, later on, she tries to tell Duncan that her husband wants to kill her, Duncan doesn't believe her, and Elise disappears.

Duncan has issues with Judge Laird, in that Laird dismissed Duncan's case regarding a notorious drug dealer. In addition, he lusts after the Judge's wife - but distrusted her while she was alive. Now, she's dead, and Duncan starts to investigate... only to find himself on the edge of the law.

If I say anymore, it would spoil the suspense. Glad that she's writing nothing but suspense now, because Sandra Brown is bringing her A game here.

I just could not put this book down. Lots of twists and surprises. A really gripping tale. I absolutely had to finish it and was then sorry it was over ! A great read

This book had a fantastic storline that I really enjoyed and I think this is the best Sandra Brown has written so far. The story was so good that I felt sad when I finished it. There were so many twists and turns it will keep you guessing till the end!
