Inspirational rather than a teaching book. Only gave four stars (only!) as I was expecting to get some detailed instructions. This is a companion book to Ricky Tims very expensive and obviously completely detailed 'Rhapsody Quilt' book. That book would have all his tricks and tips in - this is a supplement - BUT a fairly experienced freezer paper patchworker will certainly enjoy this presentation and suss out the making of this beautiful Celtic styled quilt with little trouble because the pattern is so clear. Even the registration marks are included. Plus, there are some ideas to inspire designing your own celtic knots and pattern layouts (skeletons) to 'set the creative juices flowing'. I'm being mean giving it just four stars.
Personal suggestion . .. Angela Madden produces a fab 'Multi-Plait' tool and several books that could be so useful if this Celtic Fantasy supplement does get you started on a new venture.

I wish I had known... 31 Jan 2013

I love Ricky Tims' quilts but I was a little blindsided by the fact that you need multiple books to have all the pieces for a project. It would be nice when you look at Mr. Tims' books that you were TOLD up FRONT that this was the case. I am please by the templates in the book since they have freezerpaper backs for easy use and they are all ready to go for any need to trace and create your own...just cut them out and place them on your fabric. These are excellent modules but I really would like to HAVE KNOWN that so I would not feel something was missing.

Celtic Fantasy Ricky Tims 17 Feb 2009

Great book and the full size patterns are really helpful if you want to make this quilt, you definately need the first volume in this series though as it gives all the instructions on how to use his great time saving and professional techniques. I love these quilts so much that this is what I will be using to help me with my next competition quilt.I also recommend Ricky Tims Grand Finale cd to help with finishing your quilt.

You will need to purchase more of Ricky Tims books to understand this one. A waste of money unless you want the entire series. The directions are basically non existent.
Great addition to main book 23 Oct 2013

Ricky Tims has several of these companion books out for the Rhapsody Quilt book. All are very good. (My same review for all the additional books by the way...they are all great) I have bought them all and actually incorporating several different types of designs into one quilt. This is the main design I have been using for inspiration. The full size wax paper sheets are wonderful to work with and for doing my first rhapsody quilt it was very helpful to have a design I liked already drawn out and full size to begin working with. I have been doing my first quilt to learn and perfect skills and having the patterns to work with and then modify to my style was/is great.

You do have to have the main book Rhapsody Quilts for detailed instructions on construction methods. These are just nice additions to the main book. Ricky had a great product here, what a smart idea! Good job Ricky!

I recommend this book and all the others too. Easy to follow and the quilt I am making is turning out great.
