In this stunning series Rick Stein continues on his culinary journey, leaving Marseille, where his French Odyssey ended and heading for the Mediterranean coastline. Travelling by ferry and road, Rick seeks out the elements that make Mediterranean cooking so special – the local ingredients bursting with sunshine; a respect for frugality and tradition and a sophistication derived from generations of growing and cooking a few key ingredients. From Corsica, Sardinia, Sicily and Puglia to Corfu, Mallorca and Catalonia and on to Morocco and Turkey, Rick samples traditional recipes and local delicacies, revelling in an enormous culinary mosaic full of colour, taste and smell created by Arabs, Greeks, Italians, Spanish and Turks. Inspired by the culture, the cuisine and the landscape, Rick recreated his own delicious recipes that can be recreated at home, such as sautéed squid and chorizo salad, inspired by a visit to the Boqueria market in Barcelona; Mallorcan-style chicken with sobrasada; Sicilian fennel sausage; the traditional Moroccan dish of Kefta Mkaouara and Turkish Style flatbread, lahmacun.

At last Rick Stein Mediterranean Escapes is released on video - and a chance to own the wonderful record of Rick's gastronomic adventures in sunnier climes. Once again, his enthusiasm bubbles over as he eyes up wonderfully fresh produce with a view to creating delicious dishes, and not a supermarket in sight!
If you are stuck indoors on a typical British summers day, listening to the rain beating on the windows, you couldn't do better than to lose yourself in this sumptuous collage of Mediterranean scenery, rustic villages, vibrant atmosphere, blue skies, sea, sun, and fantastic food. It's enough to lift the summertime blues!

What a delight! Watch an episode from this DVD after lunch or supper at your peril! You are most probably going to eat again! This is for the foodies out there! Rick Stein is the ultimate food-lover and his enthusiasm is contagious indeed! And to make it even more of a delight, he takes you on a journey through interesting places with beautiful scenes, done in a most professional way. I'm sure it's a team effort, and what a team! I'm ready to buy all Rick Stein's DVD's!

I reccommend this dvd to everyone! its brilliant, great to watch, 2 disc dvd, a joy to watch and hope there will be more to come! i love it. Don't hesitate if you see it, just get it. It's worth it...

Brilliant
Lovely DVD-Rick Stein is so relaxed and his recipes are great. Watching this is almost like having a Mediterranean holiday without the hassle of travelling there.

Better than I remembered
If you want to watch an extremely pleasant memory of hols around the Med, mixed with some easy recipes you will not find a better evenings entertainment on the TV

Great viewing
Took this with us when we went for a winter break in Dorset , throughly enjoyed not just Rick and his cooking but all those lovely places he went to.
