Product Description

Product Description
Dolf De Roos realised at a young age that most of the rich made (and kept) their wealth through real estate. Armed with that knowledge he worked hard and earned money without ever receiving a pay slip or a salary from an employer. What allowed him to do it was real estate! In this book, De Roos shows why investing in property is so astoundingly simple and lucrative. Topics include: negotiations and submitting offers; increasing the value of your property; and dealing with laws, rules and regulations. De Roos opens up and gives an insider's view of his approach, attitudes, techniques and secrets in the real estate game.

About the Author
Dolf DeRoos bought his first property as a student. After 8 years of study and a degree he was offered a job at USD 32,000 per annum. The week before he had concluded a property deal worth USD 35,000! He didn't take the job and has never had one since!

5.0 out of 5 stars Bright New View from An Amateur Property Investor..., 22 Jul 2002
By P Campbell (Scotland) - See all my reviews
I've read business and personal development books since I was around 16 (I'm 38 now - just last week). This is the most personally affecting business book I've ever read. The main reason for that is the subject - investing in property.

This is something that I've done since my mid twenties, and I have to admit I've done very well out of it. Or so I thought.

I now deeply regret all six (only six!) of those undervalued residential properties that I so carefully sniffed out and bought, waved my magic makeover wand over, and then sold on for profit. And the only part of it I regret is the fact that I SOLD them.

I will probably never sell one again.

If I had read this book then, I would be wealthier to the tune of well over a million pounds today.

(Half a million pounds of capital uplift on the properties I owned would have been absolutely guaranteed... and the rest I can only speculate. The positive cash flows on all those properties would have been used to buy loads of other properties! Who can say how many I could have added to my portfolio over that time?)

Anyway, I'm not bitter. Just better informed. I'll be carrying on investing in property for profit. I'll be doing it an ENTIRELY different way now. I'll be following Dolf's methods to the letter. Starting now.

If you are involved (or interested) in property development, buy this book.

... and good luck! (not that you'll need it)

5.0 out of 5 stars Taking the next step in property?, 4 Jun 2003
By Mark Harrison (West Sussex, England) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Well, I've been a landlord since before it became fashionable in the UK, and this is probably the best book about the subject I've ever read.

It would be easy to say that some of the advice given in the book "won't work" because of some specifics about the English and Welsh legal system, however, this would be missing the point...

... This "advisor" is intended to focus in on one part of the overall "Rich Dad" approach to financial freedom, and give more illumination on that part.

The whole approach is about concentrating on, and improving, your financial intelligence, which takes time and effort. However, reading this book will take the prospective landlord a long way.

It's well worth a read, and speaking from my personal experience as a landlord, following one piece of advice in the book returned me the price of the book 6 times over within two weeks.

4.0 out of 5 stars The basics of property investment, 3 Mar 2003
By A Customer
If this book does nothing else it breaks down into easily understood advice about why one should invest in property, with the aid of simple arithmatic. It shows why press quoted comparisons between investments are not equal and property for the ordinary person is the vehicle for growth.

However, I feel that the actual methods of acquiring property used by the author will not work in the UK with our high property prices compared with rental values. The tax implications are not covered due to international variations, but will bite if you've borrowed too much to purchase a property with no reserves. If you're in the UK and thinking of investing in property this book should be read in conjuction with "How to make money from property" by Adam Walker.

A useful read and worth the money.
