More About the Author

Robert Kiyosaki, author of Rich Dad Poor Dad - the international runaway bestseller that has held a top spot on the New York Times bestsellers list for over six years - is an investor, entrepreneur and educator whose perspectives on money and investing fly in the face of conventional wisdom. He has, virtually single-handedly, challenged and changed the way tens of millions, around the world, think about money. In communicating his point of view on why 'old' advice - get a good job, save money, get out of debt, invest for the long term, and diversify - is 'bad' (both obsolete and flawed) advice, Robert has earned a reputation for straight talk, irreverence and courage.Rich Dad Poor Dad ranks as the longest-running bestseller on all four of the lists that report to Publisher's Weekly - The New York Times, Business Week, The Wall Street Journal and USA Today - and was named "USA Today's #1 Money Book" two years in a row. It is the third longest-running 'how-to' best seller of all time.Translated into 51 languages and available in 109 countries, the Rich Dad series has sold over 27 million copies worldwide and has dominated best sellers lists across Asia, Australia, South America, Mexico and Europe. In 2005, Robert was inducted into Amazon.com Hall of Fame as one of that bookseller's Top 25 Authors. There are currently 26 books in the Rich Dad series. In 2006 Robert teamed up with Donald Trump to co-author Why We Want You To Be Rich - Two Men - One Message. It debuted at #1 on The New York Times bestsellers list.Robert writes a bi-weekly column - 'Why the Rich Are Getting Richer' - for Yahoo! Finance and a monthly column titled 'Rich Returns' for Entrepreneur magazine.Prior to writing Rich Dad Poor Dad, Robert created the educational board game CASHFLOW 101 to teach individuals the financial and investment strategies that his rich dad spent years teaching him. It was those same strategies that allowed Robert to retire at age 47.Today there are more that 2,100 CASHFLOW Clubs - game groups independent of the Rich Dad Company - in cities throughout the world.Born and raised in Hawaii, Robert Kiyosaki is a fourth-generation Japanese-American. After graduating from college in New York, Robert joined the Marine Corps and served in Vietnam as an officer and helicopter gunship pilot. Following the war, Robert went to work in sales for Xerox Corporation and, in 1977, started a company that brought the first nylon and Velcro 'surfer wallets' to market. He founded an international education company in 1985 that taught business and investing to tens of thousands of students throughout the world. In 1994 Robert sold his business and, through his investments, was able to retire at the age of 47. During his short-lived retirement he wrote Rich Dad Poor Dad.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not the real thing 7 Dec 2010
By wendyc
I would just like to make a comment - this is a miniature book measuring 5cm x 8cm and as such the content has been significantly reduced. I was extremely disappointed and returned the book two weeks ago and have still not received a replacement.

4.0 out of 5 stars Tiny and Pocket 27 May 2011
Format:Hardcover|Verified Purchase
Don't buy the hardcover option!!
It's not the full text.

I read this book in Portuguese and loved it.
Of course you're not going to become a MILLIONAIRE with it, but it does open your eyes for some points of view. And it might as well help you with your finances.

Please, don't go buying houses and stocks just because you read the book. First try studying a bit about finances and stocks market. After all that's the message of the book, USE YOUR HEAD!
And financial knowledge is most important if you want to live your life comfortably.

So yes, it is an excellent book and I recommend it, but I bought the hard cover version and it came a pocket resume of the book, I do not recommend that.

1.0 out of 5 stars RIP-OFF - BUYER BEWARE! 10 Jun 2011
By JBarker
Format:Hardcover|Verified Purchase
This is a toy-sized book measuring 7.9 x 7.1 cms (that's 2.5 inches x 3.5 inches in old money). The text shown in the 'look inside' is from the original book - the one which is getting favourable reviews. None of it is in this miniature book, which contains around 2,000 words at most - mainly chapter headings with no chapters! A complete con. Don't fall for it!

I had ordered the original book in 2010 and searching for another copy I stumbled across this description. Having ordered the item, it was actually a tiny book, not much larger than my palm and the "nuggets" of wisdom written inside are more or less common sense. I contacted bargain bookstores to demonstrate the description on the link and the "look inside" were for the much larger and lengthier original book. Not only was the customer service respondent rude, but they took no responsibility for the misleading information, blaming it all on Amazon, and they outright refused to give me a refund - even going so far as to cheekily point out the obvious - that sending the book back would cost me more than I paid for it. As an avid book-buyer I was outraged. Beware, this is not a new edition f the original book but a summary - do NOT BUY it unless this is what you want.

2.0 out of 5 stars Moderately satisfied 12 Feb 2014
By Andrean
Format:Hardcover|Verified Purchase
The descriptions didn't specify measurements for the miniature book so I am very unsatisfied with the size. As for the content of the book, it felt like just a brief summary that I finished reading in 15 minutes. It's easily legible however with brief, short diagrams so that you just get an idea if you are completely new into the game. There was barely any content and the main topic was just talking about the difference between a liability and an asset so I didn't feel like I gained the knowledge I was expecting. I like Robert Kiyosaki and I needed to learn more about marketing by buying this book but this miniature one underestimates his book and doesn't offer any in-depth knowledge at all.
