This book is really excellent. I have for a long time wanted to get an app developed and wasnt sure what all the steps would be - this book was really good at covering all the bases, giving me all the key information I needed to understand what would be involved. I loved the bit on rookie mistakes as those were all the pitfalls I would naturally have fallen into. I loved all the principles on good design and how to take control of briefing your designer in a way that guarantees good design principles. I loved all the analogies but most importantly I love Simon's philosophy of testing app concepts before they are built and producing commercial viable mobile apps. Most developers out there just develop whatever you tell them with not the slightest concern about commercial viability and Simon is different in that he cares primarily about this point.
Not only do I recommend purchasing this book to ensure you dont make rookie mistakes but I personally have decided to get my app developed with his company. So far, my expectations have been exceeded and I really appreciate his honesty in developing a great app concept. If you are serious about producing an app, buy the book - it's really excellent!

This book is brilliant for getting questions answered. I have a small business but it is national and I wanted to find out about apps. I spoke to a few developers and mainly found that they wanted to sell me their services. I almost jumped, but then I realised my depth of knowledge about apps was minimal. I didn't even know if my app idea would be useful at all! Oh yeah, sure I could get it built, but would it do what I needed it to do for my business. Very much a Poor App I suspect.
Simon's book is not focused on selling. It's focused on giving you the information you need to make the right decisions, before you spend out tons of cash. And then walks you through the process to make sure your app is truly your app.

Well worth the investment.

"At last, there's a book crammed with insider secrets that show you exactly how to optimise the new world of `App-ortunity'. User-friendly and with compelling clarity, "Rich App Poor App" sets out the blueprint for anyone seeking to take a concept and make it a commercial reality. This book is thoroughly engaging and encouraging in equal measure, offering a glimpse into a future that's already happening."
