Exquisite to look at 17 Dec 2006
Format:Spiral-bound
I frequently just sit and look through this book at its exquisite photographs of ribbon flowers and leaves. The instructions are wonderful, there are so many ideas to inspire you. The book is spiral-bound inside which at first seems a little odd but it means the pages open out flat for you to work from. The author doesn't just rehash the same four designs and pretend that using a different ribbon makes it into a different flower as I've seen so many others do - this book is jam-packed with ideas and information. This is well worth buying even if you only ever look at the pictures.

I had to go with the reviews on this one since there were no inner pages to look through, nor could I find any anywhere else on the internet. I just got it and must say this is a craft book done right. It's not just a picture book, nor is it a mechanical instructional, it's extensive, valuable information presented artfully and exquisitely. Not only that but even the engineering is thorough, being a hard cover and spiral bound, so the pages will stay put while you work. It's all the good things wrapped up into one.

So what does it look like inside? Like a trip into a victorian paradise of lace, flowers, ribbons and a wide variety of examples on which these can be placed. The top of the pages are decorated with digital lace, there are drawings and photos showing steps and details very thoroughly. The layout is exquisite, playful and romantic. The information is compact, to the point and well segmented, so it's never boring or hard to follow through.

Like a witches' book of shadows, this would be the equivalent to a ribbonworker.

I'm in love with this book and would give it to anyone even mildly interested in the craft knowing it will definitely inspire and be deeply treasured.
