Biography

2000 is (not) the year of NOFX! But don't listen to the hype; listen to the record. Pump Up The Valuum is more clever, more irreverent and more crude than NOFX has ever been: and hot on the heels of the unprecedented The Decline, an amazing 18 minute punk-a-thon, NOFX come slamming back with 14 instant classics (in about 32 minutes).

Pump Up The Valuum combines some of NOFX's ... Read more in Amazon's NOFX Store

Ribbed, is a raw fun album with everything that a decent punk album needs, childishness, attitude, and a touch of snarling. From the brilliant attitude of "moron brothers" to the lounge core jazz of "Together on the sand" NOFX manage to keep the catchyness of their songs, and pure pointlessness throughout the album. All though Fat Mikes voice isn't as polished as in future albums such as "Heavy petting Zoo", or "So long and thanks for all the shoes" it still has the Punk attitude which makes NOFX one of the best 'New Wave' Punk Bands about at the moment.

I've got 'Longest Line', 'White Trash Two Heebs & a Bean' and 'Punk in Drublic', and I love them. What should I do?. Get this fourth album (the first of them chronologically). It's not the definitive punk album or anything like this. It's just a good and funny album. And, well, includes four songs (four is the number) really nice: Green Corn, The Moron Brothers, Shower Days and mostly Gonoherpasyphlaids. If you like NOFX, this is the fourth album you should get. Four albums, four songs, four stars...

if i had never heard nofx, the reviews for this album would have put me off.actually over all this is probably the best album nofx have done.this album starts punk "green corn" and finishes punk "the malachi crunch",and sandwiched in between some punk rock classics. awesome

A relatively early album from NOFX.

Goods:
Clear musicianship and talent. Without a doubt impressive song writing. Definite improvement on S&M Airlines and Liberal Animation

Bad:
Fat Mike's voice is not so good. And you can tell these guys are yet to quite find what one may call "their sound."

If you're into punk rock or NOFX then this album probably wont let you down. But if you're looking for something at the same calibre as, say, Pump Up the Valuum or The War On Errorism then this may disappoint you a little.

NOFX's 'Ribbed' is exactly what you expect, and exciting punk piece of the first stage of melodic hardcore of NOFX. Sound quality is not its best, not very loud indeed, but is plenty of funny songs. And that's the best can be said of a recording like this.
A bunch of good funny songs.
