5.0 out of 5 stars rhubarb - rootjoose, 22 Nov 2003
By T W Moore (Coventry United Kingdom) - See all my reviews
This is a fantastic album! Right the way through from an explosive entry with The Joose Is Coming Soon, through beautifully chilled out tracks like A Place So Near and Wish I Never Knew and ending with the refreshingly light-hearted Virtually Fat Free, Rootjoose do themselves justice with wonderful technical ability and musical prowess.
(Their live performances are just as good as the studio tracks and I would recommend going to see them).
The only weak point of this album is possibly the lyrics which do lack a certain depth and come across slightly immature but that's it: A Genuine Feel-Good Album from the greatest band ever to come out of Newquay!

5.0 out of 5 stars The best music to come from Cronwall, 26 Mar 2000
By A Customer
Rhubarb has many styles of music around the surf-rock image and will cater for everyones taste in music, be it heavy rock through to easy listening all tracks have the unique rootjoose sound and cannot be mistaken for any other band, the band is tight and after 'Virtually fat free' you'll be gasping for more.

5.0 out of 5 stars Rootjoose cult classic, 1 Nov 2007
By W. Chrispin "Bill C" (Bristol, UK) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
If I had to put money on a surefire cult classic in years to come it would be Rhubarb. Brilliant original musicianship, a great re-working of the Beatles classic 'Taxman' and some quirky lyrics that always make me smile - Pie in the Sky especially! I saw them live around 1996/97 and they were excellent - had a loyal and dedicated following among Cornwall's youngsters. Pity the album is not available at a more reasonable price - come on Amazon give your customers the pleasure of a great cult classic in the making!

Rootjoose are the best thing to come out of Cornwall since the pasty. They rip when they're live and they sound fantastic on this album.
