Im quite a big fan of Rhod, love his stand up,especially when he goes off on one of his mad rants about something.Infact its something I get accused of doing every so often, though Im nowhere near as funny.Thrown into numerous work place environments, its either sink or swim as he has to cope with various tasks, from bin man to parent, farmer to tattoo artist,he starts from scratch and has to learn fast.As you would expect there are plenty of laughs along the way,but what I really like was that he laughed with people, never at them.It would have been so easy for him to rip somebody to pieces, for the sake of a cheap laugh, but he never does.He comes over as a genuinely nice guy,who hasnt lost touch with the ordinary man on the street. No matter how far I try and stretch my imagination,I cant see the likes of Michael McIntyre or Jack Whitehall ever doing a series like this, they couldnt make it work.
Rhods fans are going to love this DVD,which gives you both series, four 30 minute episodes on each disc. But even if youve never seen him doing stand up,there is a lot to like about it.Obviously some episodes are better than others,I loved the one where he was let loose in a hairdressing salon, and where he had to learn how to tattoo someone, but none of them really backfire.A really funny guy,and two great series that will keep you happily entertained.
