Product Description

Rheology is in an integral part of life from decorative paint and the movement of volcanic lava, to the flow of blood in our veins. This book describes, without using complex mathematics, how atoms and molecules interact to control the handling properties of materials ranging from simple ionic crystals through polymers to colloidal dispersals. Beginning with an introduction to essential terminology, this text goes on to discuss limiting behaviour, temporal behaviour and non-linear behaviour. Throughout, examples of everyday experiments are provided to illustrate the theory, which increases in complexity with each chapter. Ideas are developed in a systematic fashion so that the mechanisms responsible for the elastic, viscous, or viscoelastic behaviour of systems are understood.

This review is from: Rheology for Chemists: An Introduction (Paperback)
Totally new perspective in application of rheology from the viewpoint of a chemist. Just the right amount of theory, not too much math, overall an excellent book. I've been in rheology for eleven years, read all the typical rheology texts, and still found something new to learn on every page of this book. A real bargain too.
