5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic mixture of the old and the new, 25 Aug 2007
This is a rare gem of an album, it combines the legendary Peret with a whole array of new Spanish talent. It breathes fresh air into the King of Rhumba who sounds sounds like an Hispanic 'Lee Scratch Perry" and gives a diverse bunch of acts a chance to show what they can do. Most of them come up trumps, its well worth discovering artists like Tonino Carotone, Fermin Muguruza and Amparanoia. All of whom have incidently worked with Manu Chao who doesn't figure but seems to be massive influence of many of these artists. I've heard this type of music described as 'mesitizo' which I believe means mixture in Spanish as it crosses over so many boundaries, there's the influence of modern rock, reggae and ska all mashed up with traditional latin music with some Arabic and African tints.
