Product Description

Product Description

Exploding onto the wrestling scene in the mid-1990s, the colourfully masked Rey Mysterio quickly redefined the way the game was played in the ring. Making an immediate impact with his fast-paced style, Mysterio is on the cutting edge of wrestling excellence, and has four WWE Tag Team Championships, eight Cruiserweight Championships, and a World Heavyweight Championship to prove it. His small size in comparison to other wrestlers (he is 5ft 6ins and weighs 175lb) only makes his achievements all the more extraordinary. Now, Rey goes behind the mask to talk about his sensational wins, his ability to defy the odds, and his resilience to battle back from the worst of times. The full story of one of wrestling's best-loved personalities is told here in a book no fan will want to be without.

There is no doubt that Rey Mysterio is one of the best performers to step into a wrestling ring. His Lucha Libre style making him an instant highlight reel and one of the top names in the business that is pro wrestling, he has wrestled all over the world winning over many doubters who said he's too small. Thats why it's so disappointing that book really adds nothing new to the man behind the mask!!

Whenever you finish reading a book one of the first things you should ask your self is what do i know about the person now that i didn't before and with this book the answer would be not a lot really!

Which is a pity as know doubt Mysterio has alot of stories to tell considering he's been all over the world and his career more or less followed the same path as both Eddie Guerrero and Chris Jericho, who both wrote great books. Considering as well that Mysterio was with WCW till its last days he should have lots of inside information as too why it was such a shambles! When talking about Eddie Guerrero's death he never mentions that steriods had played a big part in his death while Chris Benoit barely gets a mention which probably has more to do with this being a WWE Book really. Mysterio also overlooks his own suspension for a banned substance but does admit that he battled an addiction to painkillers!

The book does have some good stuff such as his struggle with Promoters who never think he's big enough, the book's main problem is that Rey presents some of the book as that his matches are real(kayfabe, a wrestling term for protecting the business) yet admits most of what happens are storylines. There's no doubt that with Mysterio having such a young fan base WWE wanted to protect his and the business image.

Rey Mysterio- the little big man, the only man of his size to hold the world heavyweight championship, which they always change to the world championship when Rey holds the title, a unique wrestler and a unique book,a must for all you wrestling autobio geeks outthere (i'm one myself and proud of it), enjoy!

Rey mysterios book is well written and detailed but is far from raw and uncensored and controversial but i can understand why given the targeted audience for reys affection.
The book taught me a few things i didnt know but was loaded with things i did know but that isnt reys fault, he cant write a book thinking that half the world knows this already, he simply has to write a book.
The book has a rags to riches feel in parts and swans over certain issues that i wished to know more about but as i said , i understand why.
This isnt the most open book in the world in terms of revelations but its a great read.
I got to meet rey and he signed this book for me which made me one happy cat.
