Product Description

Product Description

The idea of a Lenin renaissance might well provoke an outburst of sarcastic laughter. Marx is ok, but Lenin? Doesn't he stand for a monumental catastrophe that left an indelible mark on all of subsequent history and political thinking? Lenin, however, deserves wider consideration than this, and his writings of 1917 are testament to a formidable political figure. Zizek puts the 1917 writings in their historical context, while his extensive Afterword tackles the key question of whether this man can be reinvented in our era of cultural capitalism.

About the Author

Good Compilation, Fair Analysis 5 Sep 2011
By DudeGuy - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
This is a great read for anyone interested and actively participating in modern social movements. Lenin has been discredited by a fair sum of leftists, and perhaps for good reason, but this compilation definitely forces the reader to reinvestigate the impetus for Lenin's resounding call to Revolution and strict adherence to the Bolshevik platform. I'd recommend that someone unacquainted with the history of the Russian Revolution read up before or during reading the compilation---it helps to fill in the gaps.

Having read this work, I definitely I have a new respect for Lenin.
