This isn't a bad album but I much prefer 3CR's debut "Pure". The notable thing about "Revolt" is how much more polished it sounds than their debut and the reason I got into them in the first place was because of how raw and powerful they sounded. My picks from this album would probably be "Pirouette", "Cancel The Exhibition", "Back To The City" and "This Is My Time" but even these are nowhere near as good as "Sunny In England" or "This Is My Hollywood" from the first album. If you believe the rumours, it was this change of direction which led to the group splitting up first time round as well with Chris McCormack going off to join the excellent Grand Theft Audio. Hopefully now they're back together again the new material will be a bit heavier than this.

After the first CD 'Pure'I didn't think they could better themselves-but they did. This is still raw, powerful with the same excellent chord changes as before and even better use of vocal harmonies. It also includes a couple of excellent slower numbers in'Beautiful day' and 'This is my time',that were released (and did alright)as singles. However, this is not what you should expect if you buy this album. If you're going out on a weekend evening and want to get that 'attitude'and 'adreneline rush',then play, very loudly'Paralyse',the very awesome 'Age of madness'and the best of the lot,my favourite 'Song on the radio,' while you get ready. As with the last cd,if your idea of rock music is Bryan Adams, you'll find this too raw-if you remember the Sex Pistols and the early Stranglers(No more Heroes era)then buy and enjoy.

Just spent a penny! Not the toilet kind...a literal penny, on one of the most amazing albums ever...Buy it, and play Age of Madness very loud, on repeat, then, after an hour of repeating that track, fast, aggressive, great bass harmonies, great drumming....play the rest of the album. It's all fantastic...This cd should NOT be a penny (second hand)...it's a punk/metal work of art. I just LOVE it though when I find a bargain, and unearth at the same time one of the best ,thrashing tracks I have ever heard. Man, I bet the bass guitar strings were snapping for fun, taking into account the hammering they were getting!!!This cd MUST be yours...Get it now!Ps...There's a trace of The Cardiacs in the music, mixed with Killing Joke, with a bit of Gallows thrown in, if that gives you an idea of the sound?
