This was bought as a bedside clock radio and replaces a Roberts Stream83i which has been promoted to the kitchen. The hope was that it would be more compact on a bedside table - and it is. It looks good and displays the time when not operating. As a glasses wearer I would have liked the time display to be a little larger, but it is adequate. I find that the sound quality is reasonably satisfactory though it lacks the depth of tone of the Roberts. I feel that it should be a bit better for a radio in this price range. The touch screen is clear but unresponsive at times - particularly when pressing near the left edge. There does not seem to be any way of calibrating the screen. I think that the screen is a bit of an unfortunate gimmick as it makes operation of the radio more cumbersome and less efficient than it needs to be.

DAB radio mode.
This works well and the reception is clear and without problems. The only frustration is the DAB slideshow. The manual states: "PIXIS RS provides support for DAB Slideshow, an innovative new feature that significantly enhances the digital radio experience". I beg to differ. It is a thundering nuisance that fills the entire screen with an image that blocks access to the touch screen buttons. It can easily be removed (until it reappears) by touching the screen but there should be the option of turning the thing off completely.

FM radio mode.
This is, literally, useless. It is possible to get the radio to scan for stations with a good reception. I did this and it found precisely none. Reception of FM on other radios is fine here but the Revo Pixis RS could not get a signal from even strong stations such as Radio 4 or Classic FM. It is so useless that I wonder whether my radio has a fault.

5 minutes after unpacking and it was already fully tuned to Dab and FM radio, connected to Internet Radio and streaming music from the PC using Windows Media Player. Touchscreen controls well structured and the sound, from such a small well designed box, very impressive. Have found no good reason, in the first few days, to mark it down so it's 5 Stars from me.

Update after nearly a year..... Still 5 stars, great device and great support. Lost one of my Internet Stations, contacted Revo and problem solved straight away.

Terrific radio. Wake up every morning to our favourite station from the USA. There are so many to choose from around the world. Can also listen to music on our network drive.

Being addicted to my Revo Superconnect I've decided to buy the Pixis RS.
My usage is as bedside alarm clock radio, so my feedback is strongly influenced by that.
Design: I like it! It's a lovely box, well built, much better that the average bedside clock radio. Actually Revo's design is really interesting. It mixes technology, tradition, good solid materials.
It ought to be great to have a LineIn plug. There is a Headphones plug. When used the box still sounds, that is useful from a point of view. It should be perfect if it was possible to stop the internal driver when headphones are plugged. Maybe this feature should be implemented with a software update. At present it seems that you can only mute both, the driver and the headphones.
Quality sound: my expectations were too high, because of the excellence experienced with Superconnect. As bedside radio is good, but I don't consider Pixis RS a HiFi device. It does its work correctly, so I'm satisfied. As I often listen to talk radios, a middle frequencies setup should be appreciated.
Display: clear, responsive, the touch works well. Actually is really useful to manage the radio by a touchscreen! A great improvement from the "old" radios! It works with fingers and objects like a ballpoint pen.
Power button: too small. A bigger should be more comfortable when using as bedside radio. Or it could be useful too to press on the volume knob.
Volume knob: it works very well with a good feedback.
Menus&setup: the menus are well conceived, always clear, simple to be used. So it is about the setup: any problem, the Manual is almost useless!
Some considerations about the software: in my opinion it should be strongly optimesed from the "surface management" point of view.

Despite this being more focussed o't even aware of before I bought thisn radio than clock, it works really well as a clock radio and the sound quality is excellent. It can just be used as a clock radio but I find that I am now exploring DAB and internet radio channels that I wasn't even aware of before I bought this product.

I tried two of these units, the first wouldn't hold a connection, of any kind and was sent back, the second had button problems that made it's job as an alarm almost redundant.
It's got great sound but it also has limited volume control, the quietest setting is just not as loud as loud, so provides an extra surety as an alarm in the morning!
A sensor for the screen brightness would be very, very useful. If it gets dark the the screen darkens, as it is, even on it's lowest setting, the unit provides enough light to read by!!
The user interface is a bit overly long winded but is ok, when the radio on on, and not in sleep mode, the screen does provide a good picture and lots of info, if the station supports it (which is most usually on dab).
I'd love to live with one of these but it just doesn't do the things that a clock radio should; though I'm not sure anything available and that is reasonably priced, and has internet and dab+, does.
