Revo Axis Internet/DAB/FM Clock Radio with iPhone/iPod Dock and 3.5-inch Touchscreen - Black

I received yesterday the Revo AXUS DAB/FM/Internet Radio in mint condition and ahead of scheduled delivery time (In took less than 4 days to get from UK to Spain). Since it was a gift to my wife I gift wrapped it myself since it was bough from a 3rd party and not directly from Amazon, and then wait for her to open it up. She opened it and all was there as specified by the manual, the only thing I regret is not having the optional remote control, when I ordered the radio it was not made available from Amazon, but now I discovered they sell it. Well that comes with the job of being between the first buyers of this product. We made the initial radio configuration in a bit, with the help of the wizard setup, it was up and running in less than 10 minutes. Instantly we were listening to our favorite New York radio stations, connected to our Last.Fm account, dock her Apple Iphone and even did some audio streaming test from our Mac Book. We could not test DAB stations it seems to be available in Spain and we can see some FM stations on the menu but the sound is terrible. We also tested the Revo online Software Update it went fast and after rebooting the unit it was back to normal. Here are our findings:

Plus side:
+Superb sound for such tiny speakers
+Easy Setup and well explained instructions
+Nice touch screen and easy to navigate menus
+Nice product finish
+Small and elegant design
+Easy to Setup the 2 Alarms, and showing status on display is very helpful
+Good Price/Quality relation, you get your money's worth

Needs Improvement:
-The speaker cloth mesh that cover the speakers goes form the front to the left side and you can easily tear it down when pinking up the unit if you are hot careful.
-The sound level for the earplugs is not too high.
-The reception regular FM Stations (the one you get from using the retractable Antenna) can be improved.
-The toch screen backlight in standby mode still is too bright, we try to tweak it from the setup with no luck.

Overall we are very happy with the product and my wife just place it in her bedside table, so far so good. Thanks amazon for carrying such a great product and allowing me to be the first to put this review.

Have owned a DAB radio for a few years, but decided to upgrade to a model that would allow me to try the thousands of stations available via internet radio, also wanted something that would allow me to dock an iPhone 4 (very few radios seem to do this).

AXIS caught my eye, mainly due to a 5 star review in What Hi-Fi, but also because of the way it looked - very subtle. The colour screen and icon interface is leap forward for radio.

My thoughs:

How it looks: Attractive design, small enough to sit on a bedside table. High quality materials used.

Features: DAB radio coverage (and the new DAB+ when it comes), FM (which I haven't and won't use), internet radio - 13,000 stations (great fun), audio streaming from our computer, iPod and iPhone docking.

How is sounds: Sounds lovely. Detailed, rich, good bass. What Hi-Fi gave it 5 stars, and you can see why.

Delighted with my purchase.

Incidentally, a new software update (you get them sent to the radio automatically) has solved the problem of the LCD screen being a little too bright at bedtime. A new DAB Slideshow feature is also part of the update, but I haven't tried this yet.

Was looking for a stylish clock radio/iPhone dock solution for use in a bedroom and the Revo fits the bill perfectly.

I found the Wifi reception to be very good (BT Wireless N Router located two floors below) and have had no problems with DAB reception despite living in a rural location with poor coverage.

Sound is balanced and very good for a unit of it's size.

Software is smooth and easy to navigate with updates downloaded automatically.

Unit also came with a range of iPod and iPhone dock adapters in the box.

Only minor criticism is that the clock display is a little bright at night and that if you want a remote you need to buy it separately for £10.00.

The AXiS is Modern, feature packed, stylish and well worth the cash.
