Here's what I said after reading volume 1 -

"While I did enjoy this comic, I am not sure where the writers are going to go with the supernatural element and I have my doubts about whether I'll like it. But for now I'll stick with it as it's an intriguing idea - dead people, zombies, but recognisably your family."

I am so glad that I stuck with this, mainly prompted by two comic book fan friends who assured me it was good. The second volume is fantastic. The small town is slowly being overtaken by the dead who are back to life but also the residents are also turning on each other as they find side-effects of the dead-to-live flesh.

The supernatural element appears again but doesn't dominate or overtake. Not much more has been learned but just enough is hinted at to keep you intrigued.

It's a good ongoing story, the small town Midwest thing works well in this book, can't wait to see what happens next

I ordered this as a gift for my brother. It did not arrive after being dispatched so contacted the seller who sent another copy ASAP. It arrived in time for my brother's birthday and everyone was happy.

Great volume 2 18 Sep 2013

More gore, more bloody body parts, more tortured family relationships. Everything I liked about the first book is here, but I had to take a star off for the Ed Holt/Ramin story. Why hit us over the head with a character like Ed Holt? The "moral" of the story seemed right out of Sunday school. I feel there were more interesting things you could do with Ramin and better ways to explore the subject of prejudice.

slow improvements 26 Mar 2014

i felt like the first volume of Revival was off to a slow start, and seemed to jump around to different scenarios in the town way too quickly, making it hard to follow things at first. Volume 2 seems to do the same, but not quite as much, and is starting to flesh out the characters and overall story better. it still moves a long a little too quick, but it's enjoyable. hopefully things stabilize as the series moves forward. would love to see a mini-series on TV made out of this, but unfortunately there's some new show on TV about people coming back from the dead that likely stole any thunder of a potential Revival adaptation.

Best Zombie Book Published by Image Comics 27 Nov 2013

If you are a fan of Seeley's work with Hack/Slash, you may expect Revival to possess the same sense of humor, comical artwork, and goofy guest stars. If those are your expectations, your expectations will not be met. In fact, you may be blown away by how much Seeley has matured both in content and in quality. While I love Cassie, Vlad, and the rest of the Hack/Slash bunch, Seeley demonstrates drastic improvement in nuanced character development in Revival. The pace is suspenseful. The dialogue is natural. The relationships between the characters articulate a lot of modern frustrations.

Also, the art work is really special. The colors and shots perpetuate a specific mood and create a style unique to the book.

In regards to its particular genre, it may be unpopular to say, but I think Revival is the BEST ZOMBIE BOOK PUBLISHED BY IMAGE COMICS (with '68 coming in second and some Kirkman book coming in third)
