Product Description

Ironside's commentaries are a standard and have stood the test of time. They are reliable and based on solid exegesis and offer practical insights into the text. Other commentaries in this series are The Minor Prophets and Revelation. New books will be forthcoming in the months ahead. These commentaries were originally published by Loizeaux Brothers. which is no longer in business. Kregel is doing pastors and teachers a great service in reprinting these books for us.--Michael Catt (06/01/2005)

Very interesting and well-written 27 Jun. 2001
By Chris Warner - Published on
Format: Paperback
I was looking for a book that might help me understand just what was going on in Revelation. I didn't expect too much when I pulled this dusty old book from the shelves in my church's library. I was wrong, though! This is an excellent interpretation, going into plenty of detail and always staying interesting. I have since then also read the first three books in the Left Behind series, and let me tell you, this book far outdistances them! Not to say that they aren't a good read, but I much prefer to read a nice, solid review with plenty of research to back it up (which Ironside's lectures on the Revelation certainly is!). My advice to you is to read this book if you really want to understand what's going on, and read something like the Left Behind books if you're more looking for entertainment with some truth mixed in as well.

Dispensationalist Interpretation of the Apocalypse 18 Aug. 2012
By EEG - Published on
Format: Paperback Verified Purchase
Harry Ironside proceeds in his folksy style to apply a dispensationalist interpretation to the Revelation/Apocalypse, the final book in the Christian New Testament. In doing so, he draws extensively on the Old Testament prophets. His detailed coverage features a strongly futuristic outlook, delivered with concrete interpretations of 'rapture', tribulation and millenium events. In keeping with his frame of reference, God will continue after the Church's 'rapture' to relate to a restored Jewish nation with its capital city in Jerusalem. This aspect of dispensational thinking, hence, posits that the Jews and Gentile nations whose called out people comprise the Church are a heavenly people. On the other hand, he views the Jews as God's earthly people. He considers that the events that appear in John's visions after chapter 3 to be events that are yet to come (futuristic focus).

Excellent insight and interpretation on Revelation 12 Sept. 1998
By A Customer - Published on
Format: Paperback
This book helped me greatly in preparing to teach an adult Sunday School class about the book of Revelation. Mr. Ironside's insights are most helpful and I believe to be a very good interpretation of John's Revelation of the end times.

Teaching tool 24 Oct. 2011

Currently teaching Revelations Journey, 1 verse at a time in Bible study. This book is very inciteful and thourough in its approach to a subject many find puzzling and even label as evasive. Using this tool along with guidance by the Holy Spirit, it is proving very valuable.
