not sure whether it was just me, but the writing in the first chapter or so, didn't seem to gel. perhaps it was the language structure of some of the sentences. the idea of having section of super strong vampires to keep other vampires, their bloodlines and their existence a secret, was a good concept. however the romantic story going on at the same time, took away from what the book could have evolved into. in the last chapter when they confront the enemy the audience is left without an answer....obviously that cries out for a second installment, but i just felt as if someone had given me a 99er without the flake. i am going to try this author again just to see if the next stories grow a little more in substance.

After reading the other review for this book I expected to be disappointed by this short story but was pleasantly surprised. I have read other books by this author and always enjoyed them and this is no exception. To me this was more of a romance with a bit of drama thrown in , and we get to learn more about the other vampire bloodlines in the Vampire Realm series. The story wrapped up nicely but could easily be carried on for a second book.

Ive read most of Felicity's vampire realm series loved Prophecy's trilogy, and the other longer stories (seventh circle, winters kiss etc). I am not sure that this is of the same quality - perhaps because it is a novella and I didnt get the time to know/like the characters or having any feeling towards them. Having said that this isnt bad its great for a free read. I think Felicity has just spoiled me with her other wonderful stories
