Synopsis
The horror begins as mysterious barrels topple from an army vehicle and land near a new housing site and an abandoned cemetery. A couple of bullies from the neighbourhood open the barrels, unaware of the evil within. A green vapour pours out, turning the living into evil zombies and the dead into human-preying nightmares.

4.0 out of 5 stars Highly Underrated Zombie Romp, 24 May 2008
I must admit, I much preferred John Russo's book Return of the Living Dead (the 1985 tie-in, not the original 1979 novel) to Dan O'Bannon's movie. Whilst I admit it was fun, I found some of the acting a little too annoying and the punk soundtrack was inappropriate in places. Now no doubt that comment has alienated a lot of readers, as many consider that one of the best zombie movies of all time (or certainly one of the funniest). But I must go out on a limb here and state that I found Return of the Living Dead 2 far more entertaining! The pace is tighter and the jokes are better executed (no pun intended). My only real flaw with it is, just like with the original, both James Karen and Thom Mathews are criminally underused, both reduced to whining supporting roles. And for those that love subtle in-jokes in their movies, watch out for a zombie dressed in Michael Jackson's Thriller outfit during the climax. Hugely enjoyable!

5.0 out of 5 stars The funniest of all the living dead movies by far!, 2 Mar 2005
Return of the Living Dead 2 is hilarious and a must for any zombie movie fan. The makers of this movie were obviously having a laugh and the viewers will as well!

4.0 out of 5 stars Not As Good As What Comes Before...Or After, 20 Oct 2004
By P. M. Connolly "suspiriauk" (Scotland) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I like this film but its not as good as the first film or as gory as the third but its a solid enough story concerning a small town beseiged by Zombies and only a young boy, his sister and there TV repair Man alnog with two graverobbers and one of there girlfreinds can save the day the film is very easy to ewatch and it is by no means boring but it only manages to be tense in two places the Hospital scene with the young boy and the Church scene when one of the girls is killed by her now zombie boyfriend. Fans of the first and of Zombie films weill love it but if your looking for a slice of scary horror forget it this film is just fun all the way.

I love this film its great, it may not be what most "proper zombie fans" like, the comedy and the "kiddy horror" aspects to it, and the lack of real gore replaced by spinachy... Read more
