Book Description

1 Mar 1997
The precursor to Fifty Shades of Grey, Pauline Réage’s Story of O continues, as a woman returns to the place of her deepest, most intimate erotic initiation.

She gave up everything to surrender to the forces of sensual love. Beautiful “O” is a Parisian photographer who makes a bold choice to follow her most forbidden desires. Her story takes her to the deepest, most dangerous places of domination, where the pleasures of the flesh meet the needs of the heart.

O’s journey sweeps her from the compelling embrace of René, where she gained understanding of true physical surrender, to the mysterious Sir Stephen and his chateau, where women learn to master the sensual arts. In this private club, O is challenged to release everything but her desire to be a willing vessel of pleasure—and forced to confront who she is and what she truly wants. As jealousy, sadistic games, and uncertainty make her question the lines she has crossed for love, she can only wonder: How far and how deep will she go? And where will it stop?

1.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing. 7 Aug 1999
By A Customer
Format:Paperback
After searching for this book for so long, I finally found it - unfortunately. I guess there was nothing left to do after the Story Of O. Absolutely nothing happens in this book. The writing style doesn't even seem the same. You are much better off getting The Passive Voice by G.C. Scott. That book is written in the style of the Story Of O only not quite as dark.

1.0 out of 5 stars Lacking in sensuality compared to Story of O 6 Mar 1999
By A Customer
Format:Paperback
I was anticipating a continuation of the overwhelming sensuality found in the Story of O. My hopes were not only thwarted, they were dashed. Return to the Chateau portrayed a dark heavy scenario... O's desertion by her Master, discarded and unwanted, forced into a life little better than that of a common prostitute. It is incomprehensible to me that the two books were written by the same author. Obviously when this was written, the author was sadly disillusioned by the Lifestyle she once so warmly and passionately embraced.

3.0 out of 5 stars Still exciting but somewhat disappointing 6 Nov 1998
By A Customer
Format:Paperback
This book was great, but did not compare to Story of O. I was disappointed. I still recommend this if you are curious about O.
