Chloe Larson was brutally attacked. Now, 12 years later, she's a lawyer and prosecuting America's scariest serial killer - who she soon realises is the man who left her for dead all those years ago . . .
I won't say more, I don't want to spoil the twists and turns and, boy, this book does have many twists and turns. Okay, so there wasn't enough to stop me from guessing what happened successfully but throughout it was interesting reading. The lead characters are very well developed and they felt real to me, although there were a couple of secondary characters who didn't come alive. I actually cared for them though, which is a surprise.
My one complaint is that I found a lot of the novel a little too dense, it's so thick and full of description. I believe a little cutting could have been done.
I would recommend this book, it's a 4 star read and I'm certainly planning on reading the follow up, 'Last Witness'. For me P J Tracy and Jilliane Hoffman seem keen contenders to be the new queens of the thriller, joining the legendary list of people like Sue Grafton, Kathy Reichs and Patricia Cornwell.
