The highly fictionalsed account of a gang of protestant murderers who stalked Belfast in the 1970s kidnapping, torturing and killing catholics. Although based on a true story the book does not try to be a factual account, instead we have a very stylised and dark story which manages to portray the fear, desolation and destruction of a city and its people caused by the conflict. The writing is very very good written in a gripping but poetic style that at times could alomost be describing an alien world and its people. Although i enjoyed the writing style some may not as it tends to keep you at a distance from the characters and you never really feel you get to know them.
