Scharch is a revolutionary! He has pioneered an original model for helping couples resolve their sexual and relationship issues. This self-help book is probably the finest guide to resolving stuckness in sexual relationships that I have ever read. He offers ways a strategy for finding the best in yourself and overcoming your sexual difficulties whether they are problems with low sexual desire and arousal or difficulties in orgasm.
The book isn't just about sex, its about empowerment to stand up for yourself and become the person you want to be, not the person you feel you ought to be.
Although written for heterosexual couples in monogamous relationships, it seems to me, the model would work just as well with gay and lesbian couples in open relationships also.
This is written in a non-patronising, non-techinical style, and would be helpful for anyone wanting to understand more about themselves in relationship.
I am a psychotherapist with two decades experience of working with individuals and couples on sexual and relationship issues, and have found this book an amazing eyeopener. I have recommended it to my clients.

After a rather disappointing false-start to our bibliotherapy with another book (Rekindling Desire by the McCarthys - steer clear!), we stumbled upon Resurrecting Sex and immediately knew it was the book for us.
Schnarch takes a novel, modern, realistic approach, which is in itself refreshing and reassuring. He carefully (and sympathetically!) walks the reader through the mechanics behind intimate relationships, sex, and the change/growth process, giving plenty of realistic, helpful case studies along the way. Straight up, this gives us a framework to better understand and thus address problems that arise: A 'teach-a-man-to-fish' approach we found refreshing. All this without introducing jargon or sounding at all like a textbook - this book reads like a straight-talking, understanding, sympathetic friend.
With this framework in place, he proceeds to use it to examine a wide variety of ills, illustrating with case studies how these can be addressed - tolerating anxiety for growth being a large factor. He also discusses a wide range of medical remedies, in a down-to-earth and honest manner.
This book has certainly surpassed my expectations, and given us hope, finally. I couldn't recommend it more.

I received this book only yesterday, but ended up reading 260 pages of it in a sitting.
The book takes a holistic view of sex within the relationship and for the first time I could see not only what my part was in contributing to the sexual problems in our marriage, but also, finally, ways to resolve a situation which seemed beyond remedy.
The book gave me an insight in to the causes of our problems. As we drove to our second "couples therapy session" (yes, that bad) I told my husband about what I'd read, how I could finally see what my contribution to our problems has been. We discussed it further in the session. And later, sex, well, resurrected! The book is really meant for a longer-term approach, but given that we had already embarked on couples therapy, I dare say I read it at the exact moment when I was ready to understand and accept what was written inside and to apply it to our relationship.
In short, I dare say that the book has saved us hours and £££ at Relate and perhaps our marriage as well... I couldn't recommend it highly enough to anyone struggling with these problems.
