The hoop itself is really easy to put together and take apart, the segments just click into place with a push-button and to take it apart you just press on the white marks and pull the segments apart. Once it is completely collapsed it takes up barely any room and comes with a box that you can easily put it back into so that you don't lose any of it.
A few of the comments on this item were that it does cause bruises when you first start using it, I don't know if it was because of the extra weight or because of the wave design on the inside of the hoop but I found this very painful to use at first. It comes with instructions that state you should only use it for 3 minutes a day for the first 7 days but on the first couple of days trying it out I found that I could barely keep it going for that long because it is really was quite painful around the waist and tummy. All I would say to that is that you need to keep going because after about half a minute to a minute, the pain dies away slightly which makes it a lot easier to keep going.Read more ›
I had been using a weighted hoop for some time whilst watching TV, reading books, you name it. My original was a complete circle both inside and out, no waves, balls or any fancy alteration of the hoop shape. When this thing arrived, I knew it was going to be all business. It was very very very heavy. 2KG may not sound like a lot but in comparison to the 1.25KG i was using, it feels significantly different. Think of it like wrestling a small puppy with the 1.25KG model, and then moving up to wrestling a very angry bear with the 2KG model.
Construction of the hoop is fantastic, it breaks down and stores away in a box for traveling. The hoope itself from what I can tell is made of plastic, with possible metal inside the frame. The whole thing is covered in the type of foam you would usually see on gym bike handles. The inside of the hoop has a wave pattern to it, so that the inner circle rises and falls as you trace round it. This I am told allows it to stick more closely to your body.
It really does give me an incredible burn. I have gone from using the old one for half an hour at a time to using this for 10 minutes at a push. Also, where as before I could only just manage rotating anticlockwise with the old and rather let the movement slide, I found this one impossible since it is not forgiving of sloppy movement. I've been practicing for some time now and can achieve anticlockwise just fine.
Some tips for beginers:
1. If you start off with this hoop rather than a lighter one, expect it to hurt, a lot on your hips. this will get less painful I promise, but it's like anything, you wear both it and yourself in with practicing.
2. If you don't have enough space around you when you're practicing, the hoop will hit things.Read more ›
