This book is extremly well writen, it gives a great picture of the "restoration movement" in the uk and to a lesser degree all of its influences and how it has influenced other movements.
Walker seals you in and informs of what was going on at the time and still gives personal stories of daily life in the kingdom. He hooks you in by showing the men behind the movement. Its journalistic style is refreshing and contaminating. Most books after this one dont live up to this standard. From the personal touches of indivduals to political spheres to historical influences this book has it all.
From a (young) christian ponit of view it explains alot about the postion of my own church and how this movement has impacted the wider body today. Its teaching has morphed or decayed (depeneding on your opinion) and has since been taken into a different tide, but it was great to be informed of it in a very unbias neutral way.
If you want some bias info of restoration teaching "Restoring the Apostolic edge" by Bryn Jones is provoking.
