I Liked the first rest stop, it was creepy AND funny in equal measure, and really freaking weird to boot with some nasty gore and torture thrown in.
Rest-stop 2 is actually pretty similar in this respect, but it tries to open the story up a little and give you some insight into the crazy driver and the winnabago family; plus it adds a few more characters into the mix to stop the film being one of those seen it all before sequels that simply repeats the first movie and throw in a ghost story angle as well!. The film is certainly flawed, and still more than a little ridiculous but then again theres plenty of films I could say that about. Plus though it does deal in genre cliche' so did the first! ALL the cliche stuff in this was in the first movie so it's rather an unfair comment.
Overall it's an enjoyably trashy fun horror movie that while doing little new with the genre at least is no re-make and manages to be highly entertaining and at under an hour and a half never outstays it's welcome. People who dislike trashy gore flicks may want to remove about 2 stars from this review but NO WAY is this a one star movie!
