Format:Audio CD
Some truly fantastic compositions, performed amazingly both on the audio CD and on the DVD. All of the pieces stand on their own but work amazingly well together, climaxing on 'An Alif / An Apex'.
Khyam's cosmopolitan life fit him perfectly within the modern oud tradition which takes as much from classical Iraqi and Ottoman music as it does from Western Classical music. This results in a natural flow of musical ideas which can be as much appreciated by Middle-Eastern musical connoisseurs as by fans of classical music, or anyone for that matter who appreciates a full, nuanced and virtuosic solo performance.

I discovered Khyam Allami from the latest Songlines awards compilation CD and haven't been able stop listening to this album. Truly virtuosic playing.

This album is terrific. Although very sparse the music takes you to that quiet place. I buy a lot of music but this album has been played a lot. Go into quiet room and enjoy.
