Fun:
Not necessarily here, but in other locations I have seen quite scathing reviews of this game, so I thought I'd put in the counter-argument. I bought this game just after buying Far Cry 2 and Fallout 3, not because I was desperate to have more gaming fun, but rather because I got bored with those other two games. 'Open world' and 'sandbox' gameplay man be buzzwords at the moment, and I did fall for it, but having tried this approach I very quickly decided I actually want some proper linear game play, with an actual story and a plot that plays out in a logical sequence. Quite frankly I like being led down a specific path that tells me a story as it goes. It's like being part of a movie, instead of having to direct my own action.
This game has also been accused of being too simple and too hard by various people. I find normal difficulty works for me, easy works for the kids. Hard is hard (shocker!).
All in all, I've enjoyed this only slightly less than Half-Life 2 and Call of Duty 4, and actually I'd say this is an interesting mix of both. Worth every penny.

Launch Titles Rule! 4 July 2009
Fun:
I actually got this with the ps3 or would never have touched it. SOOOOO glad I did! This is one of the best games I have ever played. Immersive story line, great slow reveals of locations and enemies. And seeing parts of the world I know laid low by the Chimera was a real thrill...

In all honesty the graphics are only ok by newer ps3 standards and the sound is not particularly stereo / 360degrees but the plot and gameplay keep in working. There are some really tough bits in the middle of levels but they shouldn't take more than a couple of goes. And there is even some replay value... I ordered the sequel the day it came out (and to be honest it's even better), the last game that I awaited that eagerly was Zelda on the N64.

At the current price? Totally worth it.

Nice co-op game 17 Nov 2009
Fun:
This game was apparently touted as something special when the PS3 launched, and with the PS3 being very powerful machine which was very hard to program for, the game disappointed a lot of people. I missed the anticipations, so my mind was untainted when I started playing the game with a friend.

The game is a classic FPS set in some WW2-type scenario with aliens. That is basically the story I think. You shoot the aliens and pick up some guns and run through some fixed 'levels'.

It is not easy to get lost in the levels. The game is not too difficult. The monsters look scary enough for you to get your blood pumping and satisfaction shooting them. And the game is short enough for you to finish in a few sittings. Playing co-op you rely a little bit on the other player but not too much.

All-in-all it makes for a good co-op game and I would say it is worth picking up if you can get your hands on a cheap copy.
