Product Description

Resident Evil Operation Raccoon City delivers a true third person team based shooter experience set within the dark and sinister Resident Evil universe and a reinterpretation of the events depicted in Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3. The setting of the Resident Evil universe not only provides a rich backdrop to the action but delivers a unique and thrilling triple threat battle. Zombies and Bio-Organic Weapons (B.O.W's) add to the mix as players not only compete against an opposing squad but also tackle this third unpredictable element, creating a brand new style of gameplay and breaking the conventions of traditional team based shooters.

It is September 1998 and the action centres once more on the ill-fated Raccoon City and the horrific consequences of the deadly T-virus outbreak from the Umbrella facility. With a cover up required, Umbrella orders an elite team into Raccoon City to destroy all evidence of the outbreak and eliminate any survivors. Hearing of this plan, the US Government dispatches its own special forces to uncover any evidence that exposes the cause of the viral infection and Umbrella's actions. Players take on the role of an Umbrella Security Services soldier (U.S.S.), competing alone or in four player co-op in a battle against all the competing forces at play in Raccoon City.

Expect the return of original Resident Evil enemies, iconic landmarks such as the Raccoon City Police Department and fan favourite characters, including Leon S. Kennedy, who as a rookie police officer in Raccoon City is on your hit list to eliminate. Players will experience a retelling of classic moments from past titles Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3 and watch the events unfolding from the menacing perspective of the Umbrella Security Service, giving fans the chance to rewrite the history of the Raccoon City outbreak.

In addition, Resident Evil Operation Raccoon City

Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City, a collaboration between Capcom and Vancouver based studio Slant Six Games, is scheduled for release this Winter. This latest offering will take the series in a completely new direction and offer a style of gameplay yet to be seen from the franchise.

Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City delivers a true third person team based shooter experience set within the dark and sinister Resident Evil universe. The setting of the Resident Evil universe not only provides a rich backdrop to the action but delivers a unique and thrilling triple threat battle. Zombies and Bio-Organic Weapons (B.O.Ws) add to the mix as players not only compete against their team’s opposing squad but also tackle this third unpredictable element that could only exist in the twisted Resident Evil universe, creating a brand new style of gameplay and breaking the conventions of traditional team based shooters.

It is September 1998 and the action centres on the ill-fated Raccoon City and the horrific consequences of the deadly T-virus outbreak. With a cover up required, Umbrella orders an elite team into Raccoon City to destroy all evidence of the outbreak and eliminate any survivors. Meanwhile the US Government has quarantined the city and dispatched its own team of elite soldiers to determine the source of the mysterious outbreak. Players take on the role of an Umbrella Security Service soldier (U.S.S.), competing alone or in up to four player co-op in a battle against all the competing forces at play in Raccoon City.

Game Features:

  • Team based shooter set in the dark and sinister Resident Evil universe
  • Triple threat battle as zombies and B.O.Ws add to the action
  • Compete alone in Campaign mode as an Umbrella Security Service member or in a four player co-op team battle
  • Rewrite the history of the Raccoon City outbreak. Revisit classic moments from Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3 and watch events unfold from the perspective of the Umbrella Security Service
  • Return of favourite RE enemies, iconic landmarks and characters, including Leon S. Kennedy who is on your hit list to eliminate
  • Competitive online multiplayer modes provide a unique gaming experience thanks to the three corner combat between the Umbrella Security Service, US Special Ops and threat of zombies and B.O.Ws

4.0 out of 5 stars Better experience than on the PS3 13 May 2013
Platform for Display:PC|Verified Purchase
Playing this game on the PS3 was a ruined experience thanks to the poor controls (who clicks R3 to sprint)? Fortunately, aiming is easier on the PC and so is sprinting. Definitely had less trouble with this on the PC. Downside - is clearly incompatible with Windows 8. Be prepared to tear your hair out over black screen/crash/not responding/won't start issues.

4.0 out of 5 stars People are taking this game the wrong way 28 Dec 2012

Don't get me wrong this game isn't perfect.
It's not like the old Resident Evils and it's not mean't to be, its a new take a different take. Made to hold people over until Resident Evil 6 came, it was made as a "What if" to the fans and sure the endings are horrible but its so the fan can say well I wonder what could have happened and make up their own ending. The games not brilliant but it's not as bad as people are saying it is and people just need to take the game for what it is and enjoy it, its a great game if you give it a chance

never managed to play it, didnt want to load/work on windows 8 so I cant rate the game itself

My computer is brand new MSI GT780DXR, shouldnt have been a problem to play the game at all if only that windows live platform functioned properly with Windows 8

Never found a way to fix it, had to sell the game ... :(

4.0 out of 5 stars resident evil operation raccoon city 28 May 2012

Very quick service. Item delivered very fast.
Resident evil changed too much. I prefer the old gameplay and horror atmosphere from resident 1 2 3.
Though I enjoy playing it. This game needs definitely some more improvements for the action and the story.

3.0 out of 5 stars A fun but buggy game 8 Jun 2013

Fun: 3.0 out of 5 stars
If you're a fan of the resident evil franchise, then you will love the references to the events that took place in resident evil 2 and 3 (William Birkin & Nemesis, etc).
As a game on it's own, it feels fast paced much like the more recent titles (resident evil 5 and 6), but almost seems like a prototype.
The reason I say this is because there were often times when the game and it's collision detection ruined it at times.

As for playing with other people, this does improve things somewhat, but in the end its just another glorified zombie 3rd person shooter only made interesting by it's location and previous game references.

1.0 out of 5 stars resident evil raccoon city 20 May 2012

Fun: 1.0 out of 5 stars
i was a bit exited for the next installment to the resident evil as i am a big fan of the games. but this game i am not. i have brought this on steam so i presume the errors are the same i am fine with the complaintes about the graphics but the game play is poor as well with AI that run ahead in to opposing gunfire and need healing, the sound that will cut out for 5 mins for no reason and randomly come back again. now i have played for 2 hours and not a happy 2 hours i got mostly enoyed about fighting people more than zombies though when fighting BOWs and zombies i enjoy the game but when you fight people that destroy your team meaning you have to save them. very irritating
