Wow! This is a movie sound track that is actually worth having! I bought a copy of this on the strength of it having some Deftones and Slipknot racks on there but almost the entire album is outstanding! I wont review the whole album as it will take me too long but I'll start at the beginning: The Slipknot song: Vermillion is a fantastic way to open the album, everything I love about Slipknot is evident in this song. Its Slipknot and that's all it needs to be! Although I've never really heard much of The Used I am actually quite taken by this song, i might have to look at some of their earlier stuff... The Cure. I've never liked The Cure and in my opinion this is one of the two things that do let the sound track down. If you are a fan of The Cure then I'm sure you will enjoy Us or them although you may find the production on this song a little different than their earlier material (If i remember it was produced by Ross Robinson of Korn/Slipknot/At the drive in fame). Lacuna coil to me sound like the "Evanescence for adults". Its not that i don't like Evanescence, as I do, but Lacuna Coil offer a slightly harder edge that makes you think more about the content of the song as opposed to the glossy finish it gets recorded with. Killswitch Engages track, "The End Of Heartache" is a fantastic tune with a perfect mix of melody and aggression in both the musical and vocal departments. Anybody who loves My Last Serenade will adore this! I've never been a big fan of Cradle Of Filth simply because i don't like Dani Filths vocals but this track is very "Iron Maiden" and i totally dig that! Musically they have progressed and in my opinion matured and i found myself listening to this track a great number of times. Now I can even say I think its a blinding tune!Read more ›

I recently acquired a promotional copy of the soundtrack to the new "Resident Evil: Apopcalypse" movie last weekend. I primarily bought it for Lacuna Coil, Rammstein, The Cure, and Massive Attack songs. Much to my surprise, I found myself enjoying a lot of songs on this album by bands that I normally don't listen to. I never cared for Slipknot, and their song "Vermillion" just proved to me why I don't like them. Don't care for The Used either. The Cure is one of my all time favorite bands but "Us Or Them" from their new album is pretty horrid. It sounds too much like the bands that producer Ross Robinson worked with in the past. Robert Smith's vocals is simply annoying. Although the song isn't new and is already found on their most recent album, I still love Lacuna Coil's "Swamped". Great song by the Italian metal band. What really threw me off by surprise was the songs by Cradle of Filth, HIM, CKY, and Killwswitch Engage. Their songs were by far the strongest tracks on the entire album. I normally loathe Cradle of Filth simply because they get associated with my beloved goth culture and when the band is NOT goth. I just adore CoF's "Nymphetamine". The melodies is really catchy but what I really love about the song is the female vocals provided by the former Theatre of Tragedy vocalist Liv Kristine. Great song. The HIM song "Join Me in Death" is my other personal favorite song on the soundtrack. I just love the overdramatics of the song, musically and lyrically. Now I'm curious to hear what HIM's other music sounds like. The new Rammstein song "Mein Teil" is classic Rammstein. I can't wait for their new album. The Killswitch Engage and CKY tracks were other personal favorites of mine. They were heavy yet melodic. I find myself listening to those songs over and over again. Although not perfect, "Resident Evil: Apopcalypse" really fits the ambience of the upcoming film. I can't wait to see the movie. The music is awesome.

I am really impressed with this soundtrack it's got some great tracks on there. My personal favourite is the new Cradle Track 'Nymphetamine'. It also features some great tracks from the likes of Slipknot, Rammstein, Killswitch Engage, DevilDriver, I really recommend it its one of the best soundtracks I have heard for a while with rare and unreleased tracks!

R.E.A. is an album not to be taken lightly. This epic CD is not an album solely for Metal fans, it features an array of bands not recognised as the stereotype of their genre (such as Slipknot), like the Deftones, Nightwish and The Perfect Circle. All songs featured are an excellent tribute to the state of modern alternative music. Bands such as Killswitch Engage, Slipknot, 36 Crazyfists and CKY do not fail to please with brilliantly written tracks. "The End of Heartache" in my opinion, is one of the top three songs off KSE's new album and should not be missed. The recording for R.E.A. is remastered and altered with melodic vocals and other subtle but effective changes.
Cradle of Filth dish out a superb track with undertones of a slow-paced Iron Maiden. The female vocals add dynamics not always found in today's scene to the song. The range of this album is enormous encorporating global bands from the UK, US and Germany, bands reknown for their musical genius. You won't regret purchasing this good title!

The Resident Evil: Apocalypse soundtrack is one of the best complation albums i have ever heard. With a variety of sub-genres of metal, this makes for a good listen. For all of you hard moshers, tracks from Ramstein, Devildriver and 36 Crazyfists will get you moving. For those of you who are after some realy heavy Alternate/Goth metal, Lacuna Coil, Nightwish and Cradle of Filth will satisfy you. Fans of Killswitch Engage will notice a difference in their single from 'The End Of Heartache' album, therefore maybey a bit dissapointed with their contribution. As for the Slipknot track, what to say? Pure briliance! It has talented vocals, good music and, a SOLO, on a Slipknot song? Yes! This track may change a lot of minds about Slipknot! It is their transition into a new style, aiming at a newer audience.
Overall, a good album with the heavyweights of Metal showing the world they have so many more years left to keep rocking! :-)
